Our brewers wanted to make a beer that went down easy after a day out on the water. Big Wave Golden Ale is just the ticket. Big Wave is a lighter bodied golden ale with a tropical hop aroma and flavor – a smooth, easy drinking refreshing ale. The use of caramel malt contributes to the golden hue of this beer and our special blend of hops provides bright quenching finish. 10.3°

Bottled. Yellowish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, mildly grainy and bready malts. Flavour is quite similar, with a nice herbal touch to the hoppiness as well. Fresh, but a bit simplistic and boring.

Draught at Kona Brewing Company - KoKo Marina Pub, 5.4% ABV
Deep blond color, with generous compact head, leaving a sticky lace. The aroma is perfumy, hoppy, fresh, with delicate fruitiness. The mouthfeel is drier than expected, the flavor is rather anonymous, with some dry malt, and hints of good hops; ordinary bitterness, into a very dry final.
Promising aroma, disappointing flavor.

Bottle at The Parcel Yard Kings Cross. Clear gold thick white head. Slightly oxidised hop aroma. But then it explodes in the mouth with almost space dust intensity. Possibly the strangest golden ale I have ever had. Beer of the day no doubt. It’s completely woken up my jaded senses and made me think. Sherberty space dust finish is exquisite. Not many beers put a big stupid grin on my face but this did. Yep even after several gulps I love the finish. Space dust man its space dust.

Bottle. It pours a clear, golden body and a minimal sized off-white head. The aroma is peachy, tropical and with hints of maltyness. All rather weak, but it’s pleasant anyway. It’s medium bodied, semi-dry and pleasantly carbonated, with flavors of pale malts in the back, and peachy, tropical fruity hoppyness up front. Could use a bit more bitterness maybe, both initially and in the end, but it’s a nice and refreshing beer anyway. 120623

Bottle at home in London - courtesy of the fine folks at BeerMerchants. Pours totally clear gold with a frothy white head that quickly settles down into a cream. Fairly subdued on the nose, just some notes of biscuits, hay, light cereal, lemon rind. Light sweet flavor with simple pale malt structure, some more biscuits, dry white bread, mild citrusy hops, slight grain, lemon pith, straw. Light bodied with average carbonation. Basic on the finish, more crispy cereal, pale grain, dried citrus, rind, hay. Not much to this beer, but I could see myself sipping it on the big island.
