Our brewers wanted to make a beer that went down easy after a day out on the water. Big Wave Golden Ale is just the ticket. Big Wave is a lighter bodied golden ale with a tropical hop aroma and flavor – a smooth, easy drinking refreshing ale. The use of caramel malt contributes to the golden hue of this beer and our special blend of hops provides bright quenching finish. 10.3°

Malts: Pale (Premium 2-Row), Caramel
Hops: Galaxy, Citra

An easy drinking light ale. This beer's Hawaiian heritage definitely shows through - smells like pears and has a tropical fruit aftertaste. Features a floral, almost sweet, hoppy taste, very straightforward. Unusual in that it almost tastes like fruit juice mixed with beer, but makes for a successful refreshing brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Bottle from Alko, Kokkola. Pours clear golden with a medium foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of clean cereal notes with light dry notes. Taste is also a mix of clean cereal notes with some light dry hoppy notes with subtle residual sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation.

Bottle. Golden with a diminishing foam. Buttery grain malts with mellow lemon and hints of tinned pineapple syrup. Traces of lime with a biscuit, corn finish. Fatty and peppery on the palate. Probably tastes better in Hawaii than Wigston. Average.

Too much citrus flavor in my opinion. Pretty bitter too. Not what I was expecting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

4.4%ABV.  Golden Ale. Poured out of the bottle a cloudly pale amber.  10ºSRM. Nose has nice barley flavors.  Maybe some brief lime as a nod to the hops.  But otherwise has the nose of a pale ale.    There might be some citrus sweetness, but otherswise not much character other than nice malty aromas.  There is a hint of nuttiness   Sweet and clean.  I was on the lookout for "off flavors" given the expiry date. Mouthfeel has pronounced carbonation.  The palate is dominated by wheat like flavors of dough, wheat toast, water biscuit and flour.  There are some lighlty toasted flavors of lightly browned wheat toast.  The palate is a little rounded by some fruity vaguely sour notes  of fresh lemon and and Kaffir lime, which then collapse into some spice-like flavor notes of sweet nutmeg and orange peel.  No hop character...and thank my lucky stars no "off flavors" There is no finish to speak of.  Definitely overall malt-balanced as a bona fide golden or pale ale should. I’m glad the brewers decided not to mess with a complicated hop recipe or dry hopping this puppy and just concentrate on puttin out the best pale ale they could,  I have alot of respect for the crew at Kona, but not ballsy enough to make it to the list.  A very solid and professional effort though.  I’ll be watching you, Kona!

Robe orangée, légèrement opaque. Pas de mousse. Arômes biscuit, caramel et fruits jaunes. Goût de céréales, fruits confits. Une gorgée puis plus rien: aucune longueur en bouche. Texture acqueuse. Une bière médiocre.

Bottle at home. Slight haze pale. Faint hop and malt aroma. Light malts and hops and light fruity flavours. Nothing special but refreshing. Likely very nice on a hot day.
