Had the chance to visit the brewery on the big island a couple years ago and loved their selection of beers! Two good things came of this discovery, one being that the whole island serves it so i was able to indulge with most meals and two being now that I know about Kona Brew I’m able to spot it out in stores, purchase it, and share it with friends who haven’t been to hawaii...yet!

Had this on draft in Hawaii at our hotel and at the Kona Brewery(which is a fantastic place by the way with terrific food). I was hoping I’d be able to find it in Colorado, but no luck. I’m surprised by how low everybody is reviewing this beer.

Clear almost reddish golden ale, looks almost like an IPA. Aroma of floral hops. Taste of malt, citric, , banana(?), cloves (?), with bitter finish. Palate maybe a little thin but nicely fizzy. Overall an ok local brew, came close to being much better. I drank it in Hawaii.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Oscbert (769) - Sacramento, California, USA - FEB 23, 2012
~Refreshing, light, fruity, citrus lemony orange aroma with light malt and some grassy notes.
~Pours a clear light golden color with small lasting white head.
~Crisp citrus flavor with biscuity malt. Like a light american pale ale.
~Light body, high CO2, crisp clean citrusy finish.
~Very enjoyable light beer. I wouldn’t mind drinking these all day at the beach. Great citrus hop flavor and aroma.

Good when consumed on tap and bottled, a warm, golden color, kind of fizzy, however it has a foul finish. A disappointing way to end a semi-good beer.

Very slightly hazy golden coloured body with a thinnish (one centimetre tall) off-white head. Aroma of light corn, fresh honey, some light pineapple, grass and a bit of light malt. Light to Medium-bodied; Viscous, almost honey like feel at first with sweetness and a potent maltiness that shows some good complexity for the style, then shows a lot of sweetness and a rather mellow subdued finish with sweetness and a good honey and pineapple glow. Overall, a surprisingly good and refreshing beer that shows a lot of the Hawaiin vibe and a bit of a complexity toward the end. Overall, I wasn’t expecting much, due to the low ratings, but found a better than average beer that is definitely worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whaler’s General Store in Poipu Shopping Village in Poipu, Kauai, Hawaii on 07-March-2011 sampled at home on the other end of the United States in Washington on 06-June-2011.

Quite light for an ale but I find it very drinkable. Discovered it while in Kaui so I may be imprinting, but have bought it several times since and would again. The flavor and body works quite well for me, especially after a glass of something heavier.
