A full-bodied, American-Style I.P.A. that is bronze in color, Castaway IPA is "dry hopped" (aged with liberal amounts of whole hop flowers after fermentation) for assertive hop flavor and aroma. The bitterness is balanced by the malty body of the beer.

Bottle: Poured an amber/orangey color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of citrus hops with light floral undertones is quite nice. Taste is also dominated by citrus hoppy notes with light bitterness and some dry caramel malt. Dry hops notes are not as dominant as I would have expected based on the product description. Body is about average with good carbonation. Enjoyable IPA but nothing I would seek again necessarily.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours translucent gold with a slight white head. Aroma is lots of fruity and floral hop. Med body at least. Flavor is floral with caramel to start, but some fruit, arguably including tropical comes in. It’s bitter, so there must be a lot of other than floral. Lots of flavor, but the milder sort of hop flavors. Might twig a few folks across the pond. Nice.

(bottle, 35.5cl) Almost clear, golden colour with a blond and short foamy head. Fruit-accented hoppy aroma with notes of citrus, tangerine and melon, backed by mildly bready malt and a whiff of toffee. Mildly bitter and delicately flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Dry malty base with hints of cara-malt and a present hops character with fruity and slightly exotic accents; quite dry hop bitter finish with fruity and slightly herbal notes and a mildly malty backbone. 19.VIII.14

Sampled @ ChrisO after GBBF day 2. Clear golden color, small white head. Smell malts, overripe fruits, a bit old hops. Taste malts, lightly grainy, again a bit old hops and overripe fruits, light to average bitterness. Average to medium body, firm carbonation. Not very good imo.

A nice average IPA. Good balance of citrus and bitterness from the IPA. Aroma is lemon and hop. Taste is lemon and hop. Not graipfruit very much. Golden with a thin fading head. Could use a better mouthfeel.

A golden color with a white head. Aroma contains some citrus and floral notes. The flavor is dry and hoppy with some lemons and oranges present. It is dry hopped and you can tell. Overall this is a good session IPA but nothing complex.

355 ml bottle @ Olutravintola Konttori. BBE 30.06.2015.
Pours hazy golden color with a medium sized head. Lots out pine needles and resin on the nose, hops, lemony fruits and faint grass. Resinous hops, citric fruits on the flavor, mild malty notes and gooseberries. Quite tasty bitter and fruity IPA.
