A full-bodied, American-Style I.P.A. that is bronze in color, Castaway IPA is "dry hopped" (aged with liberal amounts of whole hop flowers after fermentation) for assertive hop flavor and aroma. The bitterness is balanced by the malty body of the beer.

Meh...more like a pale ale than an IPA. Great for a hot day or lawnmower beer. Aroma was pretty weak. A little skunky with stale hops. Pour was a nice light gold with a one finger white head. Taste was kind of bland. Very watery in the front with a bitter (not necessarily hoppy) finish.. Nice strong biting carbonation saved this beer.

Tap. Pours clear amber with thin white head that lasts and laces. Smells of pine, biscuit, tropical fruit, and bread. Drinks with a moderate hop bite and moderate lingering bitterness. Medium bodied. Tastes of pine with earthy and floral hop notes. Balanced. Finishes with lingering hop notes.

12 oz. bottle, consumed on approximately 6-17-14 (I forgot to note the exact date). Floral aroma features scents of dust, apricot, melon, armpit, and honey. Pours a clear gold with a moderate amount of off-white to cream-colored head. Produces a small amount of sporadic lacing. Boring appearance. "Beery," tangy, dry, floral flavor features orange and cheap champagne elements. Also lemon and grapefruit. A bit of alcohol noticeable in the taste. Generic dry aftertaste. Medium body. Somewhat lively in the palate, but almost totally forgettable palate effects. Overall, Kona Castaway IPA is cheap and generic but subpar. It’s not offensive, but it’s definitely not good and actually pretty bad for an IPA.

Pours almost clear amber copper with a fizzy, bubbly off white head. Tastes like sweet orange hops, musky grains, dry feel. . Flavor is hops forward with some bready malts, grassiness, and light citrus esters; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation. Reminds me of the Waialua Lager.

On tap in pint glass. Appearance: a thin white head leaves nice lacing on the glass. Color is mostly clear bronze with moderate carbonation. Aroma: pleasant pine and citrus hops, nice bready malt and caramel as well. Mouthfeel: fairly light and sticky with a pleasant finish. Flavor: citrus, pine and pineapple hops meld with caramel and roasted barley. Overall: a very well done, balanced IPA.

Pours a clear, classic golden color with an ample white head. Nice looking beer. Nice, piney nose. Full, cottony mouthfeel. Coal stove, tarry hop flavor with some onion.
