A full-bodied, American-Style I.P.A. that is bronze in color, Castaway IPA is "dry hopped" (aged with liberal amounts of whole hop flowers after fermentation) for assertive hop flavor and aroma. The bitterness is balanced by the malty body of the beer.

The flavor is really floral with undertones of citrus. It also has skunky undertones as well. The appearance is pale gold. The liquid is clear with a white thin head. The taste is medium bitter. This beer is medium bodied, with a oily texture and soft carbonation. The finish is bitter. Overall I was pleasantly surprised, Kona did a great job with this brew!

Copenhagen 4/6 2015. 12 fl oz bottle (35 cl) from Rema 1000. Colorful label with catamaran struggling through the waves. Pours clear yellow with white head. Settles slowly to thin layer. Aroma is sweet fruit, perfumed citrus sourness. Lemonadelike. Taste is quite bitter with the fruity lemonadelike sweetness in the background. Long bitter perfumed bitterness in aftertaste. Dry finish. Nice drink for Hawaiians challenging the waves.

Bottle from Beermerchants. Pours golden, single finger white head, fair bit of sediment too. Aroma of orange, lemon, pine, peach, nectarine. Taste of initial malts, then orange, lemon, pine, peach, grapefruit, nectarine...tastes like fruitella! Lovely brew!

Straightforward, hop centered, pine driven IPA. Moderately dry front and reasonable finish, neitherly overly bitter nor clumsily murky. The best thing about this one was that it paired very well with a spicy Andouille sausage I had at a backyard BBQ. Bottle.

Bottle from Sonoma Cellars. Pours a yellowish copper with a white head leaving coats of lace on the side of the glass. Aroma of citrus hops and pine. Taste is sweet light malts, light citrus and some spicy pine. Light to medium bodied. Finishes a touch more bitter than sweet, but well blended. This is lightly nice. 13.9
