COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A full-bodied, American-Style I.P.A. that is bronze in color, Castaway IPA is "dry hopped" (aged with liberal amounts of whole hop flowers after fermentation) for assertive hop flavor and aroma. The bitterness is balanced by the malty body of the beer.

Really surprised by this one! Had a pretty good flavor upfront but a lil watery.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle marked 15:26-3-APR2514. I don’t know if that is an expiration date or a bottling date. It pours a golden light amber color with a fluffy, overzealous head. Aroma notes include toasted grain, a touch of caramel, grapefruit, pine, and resin. Medium mouthfeel with carbonation bubbles that tear it apart on my tongue. Mildly sweet and grainy taste with a nice dose of pine finishing dryly at the end.

On tap Many average reviews here but I thought this was a good one. Great upfront hoppy aroma with some floral, citrus notes very strong. Taste was mild with a medium to strong bitter.

Bottle. Copper color with a very nice hop citrus aroma. This beer is a lot of hops all around on the flavor, with a little bread. A touch of grapefruit as well. Pretty good beer overall. Finishes really dry. I’d drink it again.

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2014 Sampled both on draft and bottled, well this is another solid offering by Kona brewing, although not the greatest tropical IPA I’ve sampled. Aroma was pleasant, sweet, mildly hoppy, fresh. Appearance was exceptionally golden, generous white head, very pale for the style but appealing. Taste was an enjoyable spectrum of tropical hoppy flavors, some grassy hoppy contrast and sweet pale malty balance. However, flavor intensity was just a bit weak. Reminded me very much of Sweetwater IPA, similar flavor profile but not as strong and flavorful. Still, I will consider this a reliable option, Kona seems to consistently find a good balance in making their brews both flavorful and sessionable. Recommended overall.

Draft at Beer and Bacon. Pours almost clear amber copper with a fizzy, bubbly off white head. Tastes like sweet orange hops, musky grains, dry feel. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like musky resin, hop cones, sweet orange.

Sample pour at a festival. Pours clear amber with thick, frothy white head. Aroma is cereal and biscuit malts, grassy notes, and light citrus. Flavor is hops forward with some bready malts, grassiness, and light citrus esters; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Poured from a bottle. Very small head, orange golden color. Very strong grapefruit aroma. Rich delicious citrus flavor, smooth, satisfying.

It pours a bright orange. Very tropical on the nose. Pineapple and mango mainly. The taste is light with a hint of wheat. There is still a nice bit of bitterness amidst the fruit punch notes. There is a good amount of bubbles and a minor hint of spice as well.

355ml embossed bottle. Gold/amber pour with a lasting white head. Smell si floral/herbal/citrus. Slgiht sweetness. Flavor is decent, caramel notes and some bitterness, hops are light and floral. Not great but not terrible.
