COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A full-bodied, American-Style I.P.A. that is bronze in color, Castaway IPA is "dry hopped" (aged with liberal amounts of whole hop flowers after fermentation) for assertive hop flavor and aroma. The bitterness is balanced by the malty body of the beer.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is grapefruity and slight peachy. Bitter, fruity and light peachy. Crisp hoppy and lingering fruity into a smooth fruity finish.

[At GABF 2004] A hazy orange beer with a small disappearing white head. The aroma is sweet and very hoppy, but with some alcohol making it self present. The flavor is a lovely hoppy and grassy one, though with hints of alcohol.

GBBF Day 1. Bottle share. Almost clear gold beer, small white head. Palate is light, semi dry and crisp. Light pale malts. Floral tones. Nice lemon led citric hops blend well with floral flavours. Light crisp finish. Nice.

Draught at Kona Brewing Company - KoKo Marina Pub
Beautiful amber color, with small creamy head. It has some aroma of good hops, a bit mild though. The flavor has some malt and caramel, just a touch of toffee; the mouthfeel, as usual, is on the dry side; strong bitterness, with some hop resins, but the hop is not shining; the final is bold and quite long.
The best beer available tonight, but nothing exciting, it’s almost a British IPA.
Dry hopped but a bit wasted.

Bottle from GBBF 2014 and drunk at home. Gold clear lasting thin white head. Fresh grapefruit hop aroma. Plenty of grapefruit in the mouth. Fresh tasty some tropical fruits too. Really reminded me of a Kernel IPA. Malts are there and fine and keep the hops in check, but don’t do much else. Some mild bitterness on the finish. Lovely fresh hoppy IPA. Love the grapefruity tropical fruit flavours. Just like biting into fresh fruit. Lovely.

Bottle, 6%. Good fruity hop aroma, mango with a little paper. Cloudy golden colour. Small stable white head. The flavour starts off quite bitter. Turns more fruity afterwards, but not sweet. Ends on a clean and dry bitter note.

Draught. Golden copper color, thin white head, scant lacing. Aroma of straw and grass. Taste is bitter throughout, decent hops. Slightly on the bland side, but tasty enough on a hot day.

Light amber, passionfruit, mango hop nose. Med-high bitterness, fruity hop, understated, biscuity malts. Good, refreshing, lighter IPA.

Bottle at home in Salisbury - picked up at Stateline. Pours clear, luscious gold with a frothy white head. The nose has pale bread up front, then some dynamic citrus elements, like tangerine, orange, faint melon and grapefruit. The flavor is medium sweet and well rounded, with minimal bitterness but nice, semi-full and rounded citrusy and tropical fruits. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Refreshing finish, pretty clean, with more grapefruit and tangerine, mellow citrus rind bitterness, some passionfruit. Actually, the more I drink of this beer the more I like it. Very drinkable stuff.
