A full-bodied, American-Style I.P.A. that is bronze in color, Castaway IPA is "dry hopped" (aged with liberal amounts of whole hop flowers after fermentation) for assertive hop flavor and aroma. The bitterness is balanced by the malty body of the beer.

Reddish-brown pour from tap. Mild, floral aroma, bitter forward but balanced. Not especially memorable but a balanced and pleasant IPA. Far too many interesting IPA’s to compete with here. Would I drink again? yes. Would I order again? no.

Pretty good IPA. Nice tangy hop and malt mix here. Pours golden with ok head and lacing. Good balance. Good malt profile as well. On tap at DC Beer Festival.

Sampled at AC Beerfest (2014). Poured a clear yellow color with a small foamy off white head. Aroma and taste mimic each other with notes of citrus, caramel malt, grass, and mild pine.

On tap. Deep golden with a thick lasting white head. Low aroma of green hops, coniferous. Pale malts with a vegetal coniferous hop presence that is not overpowering. Nice enough, but tame.

On tap at the brewery, served in a tasting glass. Pours clear amber with a small tan head that fades to a thin cover and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. The nose has medium caramel and biscuit malts paired with soft piney-resinous hops. The flavour is moderately bitter up front with resinous hops, grapefruit and tropical fruit. It becomes more bitter as it develops and closes with a long, lingering hoppy finish. On the palate it is medium in body with a dryish texture and soft carbonation. Overall, a decent IPA. It is fairly well balanced, though not the most aromatic. 2013-08-10
