3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUN 19, 2007 Another beer that I sampled in Kauai and again in Kailua on vacation and enjoyed. It has a hearty amber-red color with a bubbly white head and is somewhat cloudy. The aroma has earthy and citrus hops, some grainy hops, and some caramel malt; maybe a bit floral. It was a sweet taste with a barely bitter finish. The body was wet and had a full texture with only mild carbonation and fizzyness. The beer was crisp and had a bit of a spicy kick, great for the islands!

On tap in the sports bar portion of the Gameworks in Vegas. Deep orange amber with a creamsicle head. Floral and cedar aromas, rich malt palate with generous hops. Very flavourful.

Enjoyed a pint of this one on draught. Pours to a bright, amber color, with a bright, white head, and a moderate carbonation. The nose on this beer is very nice, with god citrus/grapefruit aromas, paired with some pale and sweet malt aroma. The palate is firm, with good sweet and pale malt flavor, with some fruity esters, and light grapefruit hop flavor. This beer finishes with some good biscuit and sweet malt up front, and ends with some good, tangy citrus/grapefruit hop bite that slightly lingers. Well done, balanced, very drinkable pale ale. A pint after pinter, this beer is a good session brew.

Draft - A deep amber colored beer with a slim white head. Sweet aroma with moderate hop presence. I enjoyed this beer, though it was a bit sweeter than most.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2013 Bottle from Northgate in Barrio Logan:
I felt as though I needed to revisit certain beers that I bashed on my first time drinking in my infancy stages of learning beer, but then again there were also beers such as this one that was clearly years past expiration date and still being sold on the shelf which I hold the brewery accountable for and have always rated the beer for what it is the day I tasted it. Anyways, I have had a big change of heart of this beer and will no longer leave it at a 0.5 rating (original review below). The aroma is subtle yet has a decent touch of floral piney hops which are welcomed considering this is mass marketed pale ale. The drink is somewhat bitter in flavor with chewy hops that bring about flavors of earthy wood and organic orchard tree honey. This is a real solid pale ale and could one day rival Sierra Nevada Pale Ale—IMO.

Aroma of wet cardboard and appears as a lumpy gold beer with floaties. Bad or just really old bottle because this tasted like ass. Not a beer i plan on buying anytime soon unless there was a fresh tapping of a keg to erase the horrid first impression this beer gave me

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Gold/amber, with a white head. Aromas are hops, broen sugar, and malt. Flavors are caramel, hops, and malt. Much more sweet than most pales, but it’s rather good. Thanks to FlacoAlto for this bottle.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This was actually a balanced and well hopped ale. Pours deep golden with a thick yellowish head. Aroma is hoppy, citrusey and grassy. The flavor is smooth cirusey hops backed by a sweet malt background. Grassy grapefruit bitter finish.

Very nice and hoppy beer I believe has a great hop amount for a pale ale decent in appearance although not impressive with aroma but definitely has a good taste and mouth feel I get this every time i visit the islands.

On tap at Kona’s main brewery. Not a bad pale ale. This along with Mehana’s Pale Ale ended up being my beer of choice for a week on the Big Island. Not a bad choice, strong offering in Pale Ale category.
