Drank one for the first time outside of Hawaii. Wanted to see if you took away the "romance" of a local beer drunk in Hawaii, if it would taste the same. It didn't. While I would call it a flawless, pleasant Pale Ale, this is not a beer to get too excited about. Would I ever turn this beer down - no. Would I buy a case of it - probably not. Good pale ale - but needs either more or a different hop blend to make it great.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Light amber hue with small head and some lace. Aroma hinted of roasted malt, buttered toast, aromatic and citrus hops, pears, and honey. Buttery and sweet taste followed by a sharp bitterness. A bit acadic and dry on finish. Thin to medium-bodied, has a lively mouthfeel. Go to California, taste an Hawaiian beer, go figure. This beer is not to bad, drinkable.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
At first, I thought this beer was very refreshing, but the second one I had was really too bitter. I bought the beer on Kauai, so I can't blame the transport. I'm undecided; need another sample.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very nice fruity ale with a flowing bitter mix that makes this a very refreshing beer. Golden color with a slightly cloudy look, but nicely carbonated. Excellent with mahi mahi!

Amber-orange with a decent head. Yeasty earthiness. Caramel-like sweetness. Grapefruity fruitiness contributes a slight tart/sourness. Lightly burnt caramel malts add some sharpness. Hops add flowery/bitter notes. A flavorful and drinkable Pale Ale, but it doesn't have a ton of depth.

ON TAP at various outlets in Hawaii--discovered this one on a recent trip to the 50th state and was mightily impressed. Pours a medium copper color with a nice, long-lasting head. Palate is almost creamy. This is a "full-bodied" beer with plenty of depth. Well-defined maltiness at first, followed up quickly by a full foray of hops.
I also sampled bottled versions of this beer and they did not quite live up to the expectations set by the beer out of the tapper. The bottled version doesn't have quite the depth of flavor and also seems more artificially carbonated. However, it's still a very nice brew that I'd buy if it became available at our local beer outlets.

Amber-red colour with good hop notes in the aroma and flavour. Crisp mouthfeel, very refreshing and thirst-quenching without being watery.
