COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fire Rock Pale Ale is a crisp, refreshing “Hawaiian-style” pale ale. Its signature copper color results from the unique blend of specialty roasted malts. The pronounced citrus-floral hop aroma comes from the liberal amounts of Galena, Cascade & Mt. Hood hops added to each brew.

sampled at firewaters, AC. Ok, this beer was pretty awful, tasted contaminated or way past it’s shelf life. bad enough where I asked for another sample after only a sip of a 4 ounce glass.

As many others have said, this is contract brewed, and way better on tap in Hawaii. Still, not a terrible P.A., and better than many other beers that are available out there. Easy drinking, and rather tasty on a hot summer day.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2008 As is the case for all of their bottled beer, this beer is contract brewed and bottled by Widmer for the mainland. I had it on tap in Kailua-Kona and it was significantly better. Though from the bottle it is quite a good beer as well. It is a very easygoing pale ale with a significant malt characterresulting in some sweetness, a reasonable floral hop aroma, and light, crisp bitterness. Quite pleasant and refreshing. On tap from the brewery this beer gets a 3.5.

"This one surprised me. Poured an orange color with an okay head and okay lacing. Aroma was of caramel malts and hops. Flavor was very very malty and some citrus hops. The hops balanced this one out better then i expected. "

Pour is clear, orangey, nice tightly-laced off white head. Aroma is nicely spicy and slightly piney. Nutmeg. Pepper. Peach. Intriguing. I’m really enjoying smelling this one. Surprises me, I didn’t think it would be this nice to inhale. I take some into my mouth and this beer is crisp, with a balanced medium body. Flavor isn’t what I expect from a Pale, but it is a pleasing surprise. Peachy -- Amarillo? and peppery bitterness balanced with caramel sweetness. This is a nice brew. Props to Kona.

Solid American Pale Ale here. Not too overboard on the hops but they are definitely present. Malt still comes through nicely. A great thirst quencher.

Poured an orange color with a slight bit of brown. The head was decent initially, subsided, and laced ok. The aroma was caramel malts and pine plus citrus hops. Flavor was an assertive malt backbone (caramel and musty cedar) covered by a pine, resinous, and citrus-like hop presence. The hops didn’t dominate like the hopheads would prefer, but for this hop appreciative, but not hops-overboard boy, it was just fine (this isn’t an IPA afterall).

12 oz bottle: Deep amber w/a lasting light beige head. Herbal hoppy aroma @ first, then a a strong caramel malt character w/ toasty malt. Lighty fruitiness; Some iced tea leaf aroma as it warms. Well balanced flavor w/ herbal hop & caramel malt. Light fruitiness fom alcohol and hops: Medium toasty malt flavor w/a semi sweet finish & herbal hop aftertaste. Light med. body, med. carb., & a hint of alcohol warmth. A decent & flavorful, if not run of the mill pale ale!
