Fire Rock Pale Ale is a crisp, refreshing “Hawaiian-style” pale ale. Its signature copper color results from the unique blend of specialty roasted malts. The pronounced citrus-floral hop aroma comes from the liberal amounts of Galena, Cascade & Mt. Hood hops added to each brew.

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2013 The malts come out in this beer, with a floral hop aroma. I enjoyed this more the second time around.

355ml bottle into pint glass. Cloudy golden bronze beer with thin lasting head. Fine steady carbonation. Laces well. Distant malt nose. Good body, smooth mouthfeel. Taste is surprisingly malty for an APA, the hops kick in later but are still subdued. Nice beer, tastes like a fruity caramel.

Cloudy, golden pour with thin white foam that doesn’t leave much on the sides of the glass. Faint fruity hops in the nose and moderate caramel malt. The hops are stronger in the taste with citrus coming out. Medium / light body and slightly slick texture and thin foam. A good, mild IPA.

Clear Amber colour with only a light rim of lasting head. Malty, sweet and roasty with grass notes and faint citrus. Less bitter than sweet and quite a short finish. Goes well with the spice cake I just had but the cake is carrying this team.

Bottle from maruhn. Pours clear orange with soft white head. Smells are bitterness with hints of citrus. Taste starts bitter, with the palate also being mostly bitter taste, hints of apricot and banana in the palate. Finish is bread sweet. Not that great.

Bottle, from the bottle at Trineesh’s wedding beach barbeque. This probably suffered from being over cold from the ice bucket it was swimming in but improved to be pleasant enough as it warmed, some sweetish malt and a muted floral hop finish. A bit dull though - and as with so many American Pales I don’t really get the point of this being 5.8%, the easy drinking flavour profile is out of whack with such a strong beer.
