Hula Hefeweizen is a traditional Bavarian-style weissbier that is medium to full bodied with a pronounced banana / herbal flavor and aroma. This unique flavor profile is a result of the special type of yeast strain used to brew this beer. 11.5°

Poured from tap to glass. Hazy straw hue with white head that held a ring. Aroma is clove forward, melon, banana, straw, honey. Mouthfeel is nice with a light body and soft carbonation. Taste is sweet throughout with CO2 sharpness in the finish. Overall this is an interesting Hefe. It is reminiscent of Belgian style esters mixed in. Not bad but not great either.

Pours a cloudy golden color with plenty of white head. Light fruits, bananas and some cloves on the nose, with just a little wheat; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice yeasty note.

On tap @ the brewery in Kona. Cloudy golden topped by a dense white meringue. Beautiful banana and bubblegum aroma, classic. Zesty fresh wheaty with lovely banana flavour. Authentically executed.

Excellent example of an unfiltered Hefeweizen. Banana up front, full mouthfeel, good finish, with subtle spice.

On tap at the brewery, served in a tasting glass with a lemon wedge. Pours cloudy golden with small white head that fades to a thin rim of bubbles and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has wheat, pale malts, subtle coriander and spice, along with banana and Belgian-style yeast. The flavour is medium malty sweet with moderate spice and a nice fruitiness. As it develops, banana and fruit become more prominent. Wheat comes through in the finish, which is long, dryish and slightly spicy. On the palate it is medium in body with a smooth, milky texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a decent hefeweizen, though it takes a middle-of-the-road approach in most dimensions. 2013-08-10

Tap at the brewery, served very cold with 1/8 of a lemon. Murky yellow, no head. Hardly any aroma. Lightbodied, fizzy. Light spicy wheat base, light citric notes, quick finish. I would be surprised if they used a German yeast in this one. I see that I disagree with previous raters, there seems to be some variability
