3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark brown with a full head. Nutty and roasty, but the coconut gives it a sweetness as well. You can definitely taste the coconut, which makes this very unique-tasting.

2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle: Medium depth brown with a finger of khaki head. Nice aroma of roasted and toasted malts, just a little chocolate and coconut. Flavor is pedestrain brown ale roasted malt and, albeit faint, chocolate. Not picking up any coconut at all... light bittersweetness in the end, but this is uninspiring.

12 oz bottle. Pours a medium brown with little to no head. Faint coconut aroma on the nose. Taste of coconut and vanilla blasts you in the face right away with some malts and very little bitterness. Super clean finish. I like it!

Slightly smoky vanilla coconut going down. The aroma is even refreshing with its fruity earthiness.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance: deep clear garnet and ruby hues under a fast fading head if thin white foam. Resembles a polished gem when held up to the light. Swirls with a bit of foam and lace but not much else.
Nose: massive notes of chocolate covered almonds and pralines with walnuts for sweetness. Thin layer of caramelized sweetness brings to mind toffee and caramel. Subtle and pervasive aroma of toasted coconut dipped in chocolate. Plums and treacle along the sides. More cocoa notes weave in and out.
Palate: delicious and pleasantly light mouthfeel which allows the clean and straightforward flavors to shine. Toasted coconut and chocolate are inseparable with almonds and praline along the edges. Touch of plum skin for bitterness while more toasted coconut dipped in chocolate holds it all together. Not a very long finish – just some cocoa powder in the breath which quickly dissipates.
Final Thoughts: hands down my new favorite beer from Kona Brewing. While Kona Brewing may be located in Kona Hawaii, don’t be fooled by thinking our Kona here in the states comes from the islands. Instead they are contract brewed under strict control and guidelines by AB/InBev here in the states. That being said, Koko Brown is still a darn good brown ale. I’d gladly drink another one or three. Being a seasonal, get it while you can.

A clear red amber beer. The aroma is nutty and caramel. The flavor is caramel and cocoa, actually not too bad. Thin bodied-overall, not very good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Absolument tel qu’annoncé avec ses notes de coconut rôti profondes, chocolat au lait, malt caramel et agrumes avec un final sec. Belle bière de soif avec de l’étoffe, peut-être pas en pichet mais pour commencer une soirée.
