COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Is there anything more iconic of the lush tropics than the coconut? The delicious heart of this island treasure has a nutty, toffee flavor and aroma that sends you straight to the beaches of Paradise. Kick back with a Koko Brown, brewed with real toasted coconut, and savor the mahogany color and smooth, roasty malt taste. Available Winter/Spring Koko Brown pairs well with coconut and caramel flavors, such as Thai curries, BBQ meats and carne asada. Its refreshing nutty aroma makes for the perfect beer after a day on the water.

Rich dark color, sweet chocolate and coconut aroma, strong coffee/chocolate flavor at first, slightly bitter coconut middle and a creamy almost buttery finish, thick and silky mouthfeel. A great beer but to much sweetness to drink more than a few at a time.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Greg & Jane’s Beer and Wine. Aroma is strong coconut over nuts, caramel and vanilla. Appearance is clear dark amber to red with minimal sparkle, two-finger width frothy beige head with poor retention and minimal trace lacing. Taste is strong coconut and toffee/caramel (like a dark coconut rum). Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thick, creamy texture, average-to-lively carbonation and sweet, long finish. Overall, the coconut dominates and ordinarily might make me deduct points from veering too far from a standard brown ale, but since it comes from Hawaii it seems like more of an authentic variation. Yum!

Bottled 02/2016. Pours black, tan/white head. Aroma is fairly intense coconut, roasted malt, nutty aroma. The coconut with the roasted malt actually works perfectly. This is a great balance. I’m impressed. I feel like Kona may not be the best brewery, but I like them. Aroma is exactly toasted coconut flakes and vanilla. Excellent. Flavor lets down a bit, but maybe it needs to warm. Lots of coconut flakes, really nice ones. Tastes like those FrozFruit coconut ice cream bars. It’s a little too effervescent for me. It doesn’t need to be thicker or more full, just lighter carbonation. Feel like this on cask would be excellent.

Bottle. Brown with small head. Light cocoa and caramel with a hint of nuttiness. Coconut is present, but fairly understated. Not bad, but not great either.

Pours a reddish brown. Aromas of chocolate/nuts/ and some fruit. Flavor didn’t stand up to the aroma. A little chocolate/coffee taste.

Rated on 5-06-2016 at Don Hall’s Factory, Fort Wayne, IN. (Bottle) The appearance is a cream head with a short retention, semi-transparent cherry body, no carbonation observed, and a good amount of lacing adorns the glass. The aroma is nutty, malt and coconut. The flavor mimics the aroma. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is a light-medium beer. This beer is very drinkable and would make for a nice session beer. It has a very good taste, worth trying and definitely a beer that I would partake in again.
