COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Longboard Island Lager is a smooth refreshing lager fermented and aged for weeks at cold temperatures to yield its exceptionally smooth flavor. A delicate, slightly spicy hop aroma complements the malty body of this beer.

Second beer in Newport Beach on 10 Mar 2014, In my daughters new place. Knackered after the flight from the UK and drive from San Diego, I was pleased to try two fairly low alcohol refreshing lager/pilsner style brews (this and Konaís Big Wave). slight haze to the light golden beer, thin white head that tried to hang around. Fairly quiet smell and flavour wise, a bog standard summer brew with mild sweet feel rather than happier like itís stable mate I had first. OK, but I preferred the Big Wave, it had more about it.

Good enough beer. Nothing really special. Touch on the sweet side, but luckily thereís enough tang and bitter to balance. Workaday brew. No reason to go out of your way for it nor any reason to turn it down.

Medium white coarseish head. Clear yellow body with light carbonation. Fruity cake aroma with spicy notes. Dryish mealy fruity spicy aroma with oily herbal notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish oily fruity grassy aftertaste with spicy notes. Itís not bad, but itís mostly a normal pale lager. (0.355l bottle, from wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 12/4/2013. Pours slightly hazy very pale straw color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, bready grain, light honey, floral, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of hop, malt, and yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, bready grain, light honey, grass, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light grainy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, bready grain, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a bit. Nice balance of malt, hop, and yeast ester flavors; with solid robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth and crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 4.6%. Overall this is a good pale lager. Good balance and solid robustness of malt, hop, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.

no taste, even for a light beer this was pretty bad, perhaps my taste buds were even more turned off as I had just had a very tasty IPA before this, even with that in mind this is something Iíll never buy again

On tap and poured into a shaker pint. Clear yellow in color with no head thanks to the pour. Aroma is light malt, biscuit, grassy and floral hops. Taste is bread, grass, and grain. Medium body, thin texture, moderate to high carbonation, dry bitter finish.

Bottle to pint glass. Pours a pale, clear golden color. Aroma is grassy, light earthy notes. Taste is hay, straw and light hop citrus. Palate is thin, watery and high carbonation. Not great, but beats Coors/ bud any day.

Pour from a 12oz bottle. Letís just cut to the chase: a nicely crafted macro style lager whose main appeal is that it is inoffensive. No real cahracter and not as interesting as some of the better macro lagers.

Pale straw pour. White artificially carbonated head doesn't last long. Aroma is initially a bit of skunk. This fades to light corn and malt aroma. Flavor is fruity and sweet. Sweet buttered corn and dough. Hops are fair. Grassy bitterness balances the malt. That skunk lingers in the flavor a bit. Would be a bit nicer on draft to avoid that. Balance is right, malt flavor isn't great. An ok beer for the style, but not something I'd order.

Bottle in St Christopherís Place, Borough. Considering itís sold for about £5 as an American Craft Beer itís a pretty standard dull lager. Colour is clear amber, medium white head. Nose is sweet grainy, crisp lager yeast, bit of corn. Taste is the same. Really not very interesting.
