COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pipeline Porter is smooth and dark with a distinctive roasty aroma and earthy complexity from its diverse blends of premium malted barley. This celebration of malt unites with freshly roasted 100% Kona coffee grown at Cornwell Estate on Hawaii’s Big Island, lending a unique roasted aroma and flavor. A delicate blend of hops rounds out this palate-pleasing brew.

Pours no head till you tilt the glass, then it froths for a short bit. very dark. Silky mouthfeel, and the coffee isn’t bitter at all. Been a long time since I’ve had Kona coffee so can’t tell you whether it trully comes out in the flavor, or not. Aroma is typical of other brews I’ve had that use real coffee. I’d probably drink it again, but I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to find it.

Bottle courtesy of fordest. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with ruby hues and an average size tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, light coffee, light chocolate and light hops. Flavour of roasted malt, coffee and not much else and a lightly roasty/bitter finish -- a little dull. Average bodied. This was O.K., there’s nothing great about it but it’s easy to drink and decent enough.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a med-sized tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and a little coffee. Flavor is much the same - not as much coffee as I had expected or hoped for. The roasted malts were rather subtle. A touch on this thin and slightly watery. Not a bad brew.

Bottle, PKGD on 10/04/06 Small tan head that flits in an instance, lace is nil. One helluva black porter. Nose is lightly metallic with some subdued coffe notes and maybe a hint of roast and some cocoa. Body is medium,, lightly oily on the palate. The roasty coffee flavors have faded, i assume, still lingering but in small quantities. Notes of chocolate and maybe some black patent malts reside here also. Finish is lightly sweet and roasty with a little soapiness. Past its prime, i hope? Thanks to SDbruboy for the bottle.

Another one courtesy of Linc - thanks! I was pretty excited about this one, but was a bit let down. Rough, vegetal, jalapeńo-tinged coffee flavour dominates throughout, drowning out some bitter chocolate notes. Somewhat dry and grainy in a good way, but the coffee thing’s just a bit too much for mine.

Pours thin and dark with a nice tan head that disapates quickly. No much going on with regards to aroma, Tastes of bitter coffee, and malts. Would have rated higher if it was a little sweeter. O.K. Porter

Pure coffee aroma, very fresh from mid-February, nice soapy head and some lace down the glass. Coffee colour, and medium plus easy drinking understated carbonation mouthfeel. Not much complexity but A good straight up coffee style porter.

This was a very solid porter all the way from hawaii. I had to rock out to some pepper as i enjoyed it. Very thick yet smooth coffee body to it. A bit acidic bitterness, but not much. Solid beer, solid.

This was a good porter, one of my favorites. This has a very strong coffee flavor, almost a little toffee as well. This is o ne of the only Kona beers I like. However, it was a little thin without the distinctive dry mouthfeel of most porters.
