Pipeline Porter is smooth and dark with a distinctive roasty aroma and earthy complexity from its diverse blends of premium malted barley. This celebration of malt unites with freshly roasted 100% Kona coffee grown at Cornwell Estate on Hawaiiís Big Island, lending a unique roasted aroma and flavor. A delicate blend of hops rounds out this palate-pleasing brew.

Very faint aroma; vaguely porter scented. Coffee flavor with a strange sour and metallic finish. Not a great porter.

Weak coffee and malt aroma. Very dark brown with a thin head. Medium palate. Strangely bitter coffee and some sort of vegetal component that I just didnít get at all.

thanks/sorry elgaucho (i stole this at DLD í07). it was actually something of a surprise because it had such a pure coffee flavor. aroma was just a normal porter, but then the flavor was really fresh, and it seemed like all the bitterness came directly from the roasted coffee. if i knew more about coffee varieties i could maybe say more, but as porters go i found this to be a welcome novelty.

Bottle. Black-ruby pour. Roast coffee nose, more coffee than roast, dry and bitter. Body is thick and malty, taste is of moderately sweet chocolate and roast beans. Light cream and plums. Tingly mf on an otherwise silken palate with a delicious mild coffee/choco aftertaste. A really nice blend, no flavor steps out of line. Very enjoyable. Thanks, Jake!

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2007 Six pack from my local BevMo: The darkest of browns with ruby highlights when held up to a flashlight and a generous fast fading tan head. Nose is Kona coffee. Flavor starts rich coffee followed by dark chocolate fading to a nutty taste and a long, light simi-dry burnt coffee finish. Medium bodied and silky with moderate carbonation.

Thanks to the parents for bringing this one home - Deep brownish crimson, tan creamy head. Nose held earthy coffee tones and mild chocolate, with softer vanilla oat notes. Coffee flavors fade into textured notes of berry, chocolate, and hints of caramel. Ends with a slight burnt hoppy bitterness to pull together some balance. Light bodied, soft carbonation, and very drinkable. Tasty for sure...

12 oz bottle, via Saarlander. Pours a clear dark brown body under a smallish very fizzy light brown head that faded quickly. Aroma is very roasty and chocolaty with a big burnt coffee kick. Some light chalkiness and a hint of smoke. The flavor is pretty lacking though. Very dry with a heavy roast and coffee base. Finishes with some burnt ashiness. Mouthfeel is light bodied with a watery texture and a good bit of fizzy forced carbonation. Overall, this was OK, but the coffee combined with the heavily roasted malts in a way that reminded me of old burnt coffee.

Pretty nice, although Iím starting to wonder to what degree I really like the coffee beers, despite the fact that I love coffee. Aroma is strong with fresh quality roasty cold coffee, a touch of nuttiness, flavor much the same. The finish has a weak coffee aftertaste. A touch on the thin side. Dark red-brown color, small head.

Bottle (12oz). Via trade with Degarth - thanks for the new State!. Very deep clear ruby-brown with an average fizzy-creamy tan head. Smooth roast malt aroma, nutty, light chocolate, lots of fresh crushed-mint, almost grassy pungent hops - good balance. Taste is all the above with thick lactic overtones, very sweet and oh so smooth. Thick, silky mouthfeel, ever so light astringency, no alcohol presence at all - drinks like a hoppy milkshake! Very, very nice.
