COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pipeline Porter is smooth and dark with a distinctive roasty aroma and earthy complexity from its diverse blends of premium malted barley. This celebration of malt unites with freshly roasted 100% Kona coffee grown at Cornwell Estate on Hawaii’s Big Island, lending a unique roasted aroma and flavor. A delicate blend of hops rounds out this palate-pleasing brew.

Bottle, split with NachlamSie. Pours dark mahogany/brown with a dark head. Aroma is strong coffee with a touch of hops that bring English varities of porters to mind. The flavor is a nice rich coffee that brings out a roasty malt character, and the finish rings more coffee. Still, I can still sense some English influence, but this is worlds beyond most English porters I’ve had.

Bottle from my lil bro. Dark color. Smell of roasted coffee, caramel, hops, dark chocolate, grains and a touch of vanilla. Taste of malt, 99.5 % Kona coffee, hops, oatmeal, light caramel, coco beans and a little metal, bitter finish. Also a tad bit too watery, but a very nice porter.

Thanks to Saarlander for popping my Hawaii cherry via Mystery Swap 2.0. Pours rather dark blackish with brown edges and a 1-finger khaki head. Aroma of roasty dark malt, coffee, chocolate syrup. Tastes roasty, slightly burnt dark malty, with big coffee, molasses, and chocolate syrup flavors. Rich, smooth palate. The coffee acts synergistically here, rather than distracting from this beer, in my estimation.

12-oz bottle - Quick disclaimer - drank from a hotel slightly tuliped water glass, not really appropriate for tasting. That said: Caramel malts in the nose but not really coffee. It looked like CocaCola. I was looking for more ruby highlights; virtually no head. I didn’t reallly taste coffee, but got some mild toastiness. Low score for the palate is my biggest issue with most Hawaiian brews I sampled.

12 oz. bottle from Saarlander. almost black with a very short-lived tan head and virtually no lace. aroma is all about the coffee. flavor is coffee with mild hints of chocolate and hops. kind of thin with an acidic, dry finish. OK, but I prefer a porter with a bit more sweetness.

A+ aroma of roasted malts and coffee. Deep crimson in color with a bubbly head, almost slight percolation. Despite what the label says, this beer is fairly watery. It has lots of roasted malts, cream soda and coffee in the flavor. Overall it is a nice quaffer. I drank this baby right out of the box that Oglethorp sent me today. Thanks Brian.

Pours a deep brown black hue with a nice offwhite head with nice lacing. Aromas of a little coffee, a little dark chocolate, and a little grainy. Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied with flavors of vanilla, coffee, a lght bitterness and clean finish. Interesting.

Bottle. Pours black with a spare fizzy light brown head, mostly diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is harsh malt (coffee), light hops (grass) and light yeast (dough). Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation and a metallic finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness and bitterness, light acidity; mineral notes.

Draft at the Buckhouse Steak and Roadhouse Restaurant in Winters, California. This wasn’t exactly a porter in my opinion but much more like a stout. In fact it was very much like an oatmeal stout, very comparable to a Schlafly oatmeal stout. It poured like old engine oil and had a roasted oatmeal aroma and flavor. It was pretty hearty and satisfying but it didn’t really stand out from the crowd.

12oz bottle: Dark black, nearly opaque color with almost non-existant light tan head. Aroma has fair amount of roasted coffee, bit of burned dark chocolate, ash. Flavor has bit of coffee and milk chocolate, with touch of vanilla and bit of highly kilned malts. Finish is mildly sweet.
