3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 IslandHaole (1083) - Yokosuka-Shi, Kanagawa-Ken, - NOV 6, 2010Motor oil with a foamy, quickly fading tan head. Wonderful roasted coffee beans, sweet malts, rich, earthy. Lightly carbonated, sweet and nutty with the coffee giving it a slick feel and a slight bitterness. This really smelled great but the flavor just didn’t live up to the hype from the nose. There’s just something that doesn’t quite seem right with this beer, carbonation level, oily feel, lack of "punch", I’m not sure but I expected much more from this beer, especially after the look and smell of it.

Poured from a bottle, San Diego. Strong malt aroma with lots of coffee, char, chocolate, and vanilla. Not a heavy beer, quite drinkable.

Dark chocolate and coffee dominate, but it’s as if someone threw a bunch of sugar in my espresso. I still love a good espresso, but could do w/out the sugar. Full bodied and very smooth w/ just the right amount of carbonation. Just a little too sweet for me to consider this a "great" beer.
3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Otterdance (47) - - MAY 29, 2013
Bottle. Dark, dark, brown with an almost non-existent head. Roasted coffee and malt with some vanilla and charred wood on the nose, which continues into the taste. Nice medium body with a fair amount of carbonation. Surprisingly crisp for a porter.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Cantabrian (410) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 11, 2013
Had I read the label properly, I wouldn’t have gone for this porter, as I do not like too much coffee flavours in beer. Now, having said that, it was not as bad as the label says. Oily, with chocolates and plum on the aromas, same on the flavour, plus the coffee and some nice roasted malt bitterness. "Llimited release"...great ginmmick. So limited we can get it in the South Island of New Zealand!!!

A killer porter with a Kona Coffee kick! Great, thick head that is delicious to drink through. Stands up well over time. Complex taste that evolves as it rolls over the tongue.

Kona Pipeline Porter pours clear dark mahogany with a creamy tan head
Superb coffee flavor and aroma. If you are not already convinced that Hawaiian coffee its about the best on the world, this beer may convince you. Fantastic coffee aroma and flavor with a perfect balance of sweet and bitter ...meaning less bitter than many (most?) coffee beers.
O: one of the best coffee beers I have had, especially if you direct your attention to the coffee component.
