3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sweet molasses and roasted coffee aroma black brown color with a thin tan head. Light on the palate, lingering bitterness from either hops or coffee. Almost no hops characteristic. The roasted malts pair well with the coffee. My only problem is the body is too light. Or it could have been a little sweeter.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Smooth porter taste with notes of coffee and Irish Cream (the drink- ala Bailey?s or Ryan?s). Aftertaste of chocolate milk. Coffee here comes across as being partially achieved with selective use of malts, which is a plus, rather than just actual coffee. One element that I think may get a mixed reaction is that this isn?t a particularly stout (in the non-beer sense of the word) porter- drinkability was clearly also a consideration. Mostly I avoid caffeine like the plague, so I?m hesitant to give a coffee beer a good rating, bit this wasn?t bad- and I would imagine we?re dealing with half a cup of coffee?s worth of caffeine at most (when one considers barley and hops are caffeine free and the brewing process means some elements of the coffee beans are likely disgarded with spent barley mash). That last part is just a guess- don?t know how much caffeine is actually in thus for sure.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewery, served in a shaker. Pours deep chestnut with a medium tan head that fades to a thin cover and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. The nose has toasty malts and coffee, along with herbal hoppy notes and earth. The flavour is medium-dry with roasty malts, fresh coffee notes, herbal hops and earthiness. It finishes long and earthy, with coffee and subtle smoke. On the palate it is medium in body with a smooth, milky texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is quite an elegant coffee porter. It is sweeter than I expected but well balanced. 2013-08-13

Catching up. Complimentary on my alaska flight from Spokane to seattle. Paired with crunchy snack mix. Pours dark brown into a plastic cup with minimal head but beautiful ripples/ standing waves from the airplane’s jiggling. Aroma: roasted, stale malts; some chocolate, grains. Taste: a moderately sweet, nice roast bitter finish. Some dark fruit and a hint of bakers chocolate in there. Finishes somewhat dry. Palate: light-to-medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation. Overall: Way to go, alaska!

Smooth coffee, roasted barley, nice bitterness that doesn't conflict with malt profile. Shared with parents.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Medium body with a little bitterness from the roasted malt. The malt and coffee shines through on this one. Gets a lot better as it warms. Another fine porter example that is made in America.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
An interesting porter, standard for the style with an exceptionally strong coffee aroma and taste. Actually the Hawaiian coffee definitely comes through in every category: the appearance is similar to black coffee with only a little off-white head, aroma is fresh coffee bean, taste is dominated by roasted coffee with maybe some roasted malt notes. I’m not picking up on any chocolate malt, at least not in this round. Very smooth and medium bodied. Good overall, great if you like your coffee strong I’m sure.

This beer has everything you would want in a porter. It’s smooth, mouthfeel is not too heavy, but not too thin. The coffee undertones are just enough to satisfy.
