3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 joet (1851) - Fulton, USA - DEC 17, 2006
Better fresh and crisp, this one has bits of smokey roast, and other dark roasty coffee flavors that hinge well with dark malt roast flavors. All is on the deep and dark without much body or lighter malt notes besides what I’d describe as faint honey or even honeydew. The finish is fairly crispy and sharp with a bit of roasty tannins. As I mentioned at ffirst, fresh is best. The crispness fails if it’s left around much and other off-flvaors can creep in. Good but fragile.

2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Idiosynkrasie (153) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - FEB 4, 2012
355ml bottle. Clear black with macropored, quickly fading beige head. Leather, dark and milk chocolate aroma, some sweetness therefore, nougat, vestiges of alcohol. Ugh! Taste is cold insipid coffee, grandma’s nougat reserve from 1963 stored near a cleaning powder forbidden for environmental protection reasons since then. Infected? Exhausted?
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 jjgmd (166) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - FEB 3, 2012
Pours pitch black as night, small creamy head. Aroma is malty, coffee and sweet. Taste is a coffee implosion, full of joe, malt with hints of chocolate. Well balanced ! Flavor abounds ! Very enjoyable and drinkable, on the light side secondary to its ABV, but nevertheless a fine light porter. Quaff Score (drinkability with heart enjoyment ) 8 / 10

Pours dark brown with a light tan head and aroma of roasted malts. Flavor is sweet, heavy on coffee, with notes of roasted malts and chocolate and a nice smooth, dry finish. Drinkable, great tasting coffee porter.

Poured from a bottle and drank from a standard pint glass. Pours a deep dark brown almost black color with a thin tan head. Flavor is all mocha and the mix of chocolate and Kona coffee beans is outstanding. A very enjoyable porter.

Growler from draft. Pours thick and black, with a tan head, slight lacing on the glass. Smells roasted with chocolate notes. Lighter body, strong roasted malt flavor, chocolate, sweet notes and just a lingering hint of coffee.
