COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editor’s Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

A standard flavored wheat beer. The passion fruit adds a nice sweet and slightly tart sense to the beer. Cool idea, ok beer.

Pours clear gold with a fluffy white head. Looked more like a lager than a wheat beer. Strong papaya and mango flavors and aromas. The sweet fruit flavors were overpowering. Tasted more like fruit juice than beer

A clear yellow pour with a one finger white sudsy froth that dissipates slowly. The nose is citrus and tropical fruit oriented- guava, passion fruit, and banana with notes of wheat grain, and the slightest dough. The flavor is much the same- lots of sweet tropical flavors that culminate with some cereal wheat notes. The palate is a bit thin, but crisp and effervescent which provides for a nice refreshing finish. A summer quencher for sure.

Had from bottle from BevMo. Pours a hazy yellow/orange color with good head and carbonation. Flavor is really fruity, passion fruit, banana, lemon, orange, and wheat. Taste is good - fruity, but a bit too much passion fruit and orange. A refreshing beer that drinks easy. I liked it, but the fruit was just a tad too much.

@CBC-12oz bottle-pours a white head and yellow color. Aroma is tart light fruit, light malt. Taste is tart light fruit, wheat/light malt, slight hops. Easy.

Tap. Tiki Bar. Waikiki, HI. A very light golden beer with a small faded head. The aroma is very light on the wheat and is really very weak. The taste is the same as the aroma and is a light and refreshing watery thin beer. Neutral tasting.

(12oz bottled 3-10-10) clear pale yellow, nearly no bubbles. Nose of skunk, hairspray, fruity, bad chemicals, papaya and mango. Taste of earth, bread, artificial fruit, light hops. Well carbonated fruity finish. Didn’t care for this at all.

Pours a bright yellow gold topped by a pure white frothy head. Crystal clear body. Smells of crisp wheat and strident passion fruit. Crisp wheat malt in the mouth with a nicely balanced sweetness from the passion fruit. Crisp, light body. Nice clean finish with the lingering passion fruit sweetness in the finish. It not a great beer but much better than I anticipated. If you like light wheat beer for summer drinking, it’s worth a try.
