COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editor’s Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

Poured into a weizen glass. Color is pale straw with almost no head. Aroma is wheat with just a hint of fruit. Flavor has a mildly sweet, fruity start from the passion fruit, and has a drier finish. Light bodied with crisp carbonation. While this beer may not have very complex flavors and may not be that far off from a run of the mill wheat, it is extremely drinkable, quite refreshing, and has just the right amount of sweetness without feeling artificial like many wheat beers.

Safeway, DC sixer ($9): Pours a golden colour with barely any head. Aroma is of sugary wheat beer, sometimes interspersed by some positive passion fruit action (too rarely though). Plenty drinkable, but utterly and completely lacking in character. Passion fruit who cares! Let’s make a beer that has no originality. A missed opportunity.

355ml bottle poured a pale golden color with a small white head and very little lacing. Aroma is fruity and citrus. Taste is light fruity sweetness and a citrusy hop bitterness. Light to medium body and light carbonation. A nice refreshing beer for a warm summer day.

Pours a dark yellow with almost no head. A good amount of carbonation. Grapefruit aroma. Lemon, grapefruit and peach in the taste. This would be a good beer to slam at the beach on a hot, hot day. I was pleasantly surprised with this brew.
