Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editor’s Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

Conflicting review. When tasted at Lava Lava it was fantastic. At the brewery, lack lister? Pours cloudy straw. Smells of citrus, mint and herbal. Taste is citrus herbal. Light and smooth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap. Hazy yellow orange pour. Fruit punch, wheat, citrus. Light body and smooth. A bit too light bodied for my taste.

Transfer from BA review on 8-24-12 - Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer was served as a light golden color with a one finger white head. The head faded fast to give only a light amount of lacing. Smell – A very light citrus and peach aroma mixed with some wheat malt smells as well. Overall the aroma is light. Taste – I did not get a lot of the passion fruit that is supposedly in the brew. Instead the taste begins with some wheat malt and a little bit of light fruit sweetness (peach maybe). As the flavor advances some hop flavors begin populating the taste. They are almost entirely of a lemon and grapefruit nature bringing a bitterness to the brew. At the end a lemon citrus flavor is left on the tongue, leaving a slightly sour bitter taste that lingers on. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the lighter side with a carbonation level that is rather average. Overall – Ah… nothing to hot here, just a sorta run of the mill wheat.

The body has good clarity and a nice golden color. It builds up a tall white head full of big loosely packed bubbles that quickly fade out. This only makes for a very little spotty lacing. The aroma is pleasant and has a little bit of sweet fruity mango and papaya like notes with a light grainy base. Its flavor is very close to what you would expect from its aroma. It is sweet overall and has a pleasant hint of tropical fruitiness. The finish is sweet as well and there is no balance from hops. It’s not overly sweet in my opinion but there is very little hop flavor at all.

I’ve had this during it’s Lilokoi Wheat days, and during it’s Wailua Wheat days, and now during it’s Wailua Ale days. It has a common undertone of lilokoi or passion fruit on the nose and palate. Pouring a nice clear golden color. Easy drinking summer beer.

Not much to remember. It was a very good lager wheat beer and easy to drink and enjoy.

12oz bottle from SuperValu. Pours a pale, clear gold, lots of bubbles, thin, minimal, frothy white head which doesnt stick around. Toasted malt and citrus on the nose. Flavour is sweet malt, mild grainy notes, followed by fruity sweetness toward the finish. Its light, quite fizzy and fairly uncomplex. Short fruity, malty finish. Not a bad lawnmower beer.

Aroma - there is a dehydrated strawberry, wheat, citrus like quality about the aroma. Also pleasant. Appearance - golden yellow; liquid is clear, with some nucleation; the white head is about 1/2", but it ends up with no head quickly. Taste - the taste is enjoyable - there is a fruity note has a fruit element presumably passion fruit, now I haven’t had passion fruit, but what I get is a dehydrated strawberry like taste; there is a wheat flavor as well, but is mild Palate - body is light; texture is thin; carbonation is average; the finish is slightly dry and has a little dehydrated fruit quality about it.

It poured an amber color with a white head. The aroma was of wheat, touches of honey and some fruit. The taste was of sweet fruit from start to finish. The body was light and slick with soft carbonation. Nice.
