Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place Ė Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editorís Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

Bottle brought back from Hawaii by Paul. Hazy yellow colour with a good sized white head. Passion Fruit and grass aroma. Fairly sweet but not overpowering. Fairly high in carbonation. Not really something Iíd normally drink but it was OK.

bottle rated 8/30/13 - Pours dark gold with a small head. It smells of caramel malt and a hint of fruit. The flavor is of lightly toasted caramel malt with a hint of fruit. It could use more of the latter. Itís bubbly and light bodied. Itís rather mediocre.

12 ounce bottle from Red Hook/Kona/Widmer summer variety 12 pack purchased at Western Hills Kroger, tasted on September 15, 2013. Slightly hazy yellow color, sweet fruity nose with some underlying skunkiness, thin body, interesting passion fruit flavor that needs to be a bit bigger. I wouldnít expect a brew of this style to remind me of an imperial stout but the taste needs to be stronger. Not bad but could certainly be better.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold body with a small fizzy white head that faded pretty quickly. The nose is light, your basic American Wheat with just a light hint of tropical fruit. The flavor is very light on the fruit as well, just a hint of the passion fruit on the finish, which I suppose is a good thing all considered. Rather light and airy with just some bready malt and wheat. Light bodied with fizzy prickly carbonation, short finish. Meh, would be better if I were drinking this on a beach in Hawaii instead of on a couch in my Pennsylvania basement.

4/20/2010. From bottle. Pours cloudy pale yellow with a white head. Aromas of light malt, tropical fruit and bread. Refreshing and lot that complex. Easy to drink on the beach on a warm day.

pours a hazy yellow/gold with no head. This wheat beer is lightly sweet and fruity, the passion fruit adds a good flavor to this wheat beer. There is a light graininess here and this beer is very dry and a bit over carbonated.

Poured a hazy yellow with little to no head. Didnít get much from the aroma, and the taste is rather bland with moderate carbonation. Doesnít really stand out like the other Kona beers Iíve tried have.
