2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 ounce bottle from Red Hook/Kona/Widmer summer variety 12 pack purchased at Western Hills Kroger, tasted on September 15, 2013. Slightly hazy yellow color, sweet fruity nose with some underlying skunkiness, thin body, interesting passion fruit flavor that needs to be a bit bigger. I wouldn’t expect a brew of this style to remind me of an imperial stout but the taste needs to be stronger. Not bad but could certainly be better.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours a clear gold body with a small fizzy white head that faded pretty quickly. The nose is light, your basic American Wheat with just a light hint of tropical fruit. The flavor is very light on the fruit as well, just a hint of the passion fruit on the finish, which I suppose is a good thing all considered. Rather light and airy with just some bready malt and wheat. Light bodied with fizzy prickly carbonation, short finish. Meh, would be better if I were drinking this on a beach in Hawaii instead of on a couch in my Pennsylvania basement.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
pours a hazy yellow/gold with no head. This wheat beer is lightly sweet and fruity, the passion fruit adds a good flavor to this wheat beer. There is a light graininess here and this beer is very dry and a bit over carbonated.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured a hazy yellow with little to no head. Didn’t get much from the aroma, and the taste is rather bland with moderate carbonation. Doesn’t really stand out like the other Kona beers I’ve tried have.

2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Smells mildly fruity. Pours clean with no head and almost no bubbling, looks like apple juice. Nice sweet flavor, very drinkable but nothing special.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma - slight wheat malt upfront with a tart passion fruit that overwhelms the nose. Almost sour
Color - golden straw with slight haze from wheat. Thin white head that vanishes quickly. No lacing on glass at all.
Flavor - clean crisp wheat malt upfront with a tartness from the passion fruit. Flavor disperses very quickly and has very little lingering flavor.
Mouthfeel - highly carbonated and light. Very thin wheat body
Overall impression - a very decent wheat ale with hints of passion fruit. A very good beer on a hot summer day after mowing the lawn. Brings me back to Hawaii.
