Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editor’s Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

Bottle. Smells mildly fruity. Pours clean with no head and almost no bubbling, looks like apple juice. Nice sweet flavor, very drinkable but nothing special.

Aroma - slight wheat malt upfront with a tart passion fruit that overwhelms the nose. Almost sour Color - golden straw with slight haze from wheat. Thin white head that vanishes quickly. No lacing on glass at all. Flavor - clean crisp wheat malt upfront with a tartness from the passion fruit. Flavor disperses very quickly and has very little lingering flavor. Mouthfeel - highly carbonated and light. Very thin wheat body Overall impression - a very decent wheat ale with hints of passion fruit. A very good beer on a hot summer day after mowing the lawn. Brings me back to Hawaii. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

from Bier-Bienne - clear pale golden beer with no foam left; perfumy with notes of pear and passion fruit; pretty sweet and medium-bodied, quite dry and long fruity finish - soft and quite drinkable

The beer is a very clear golden color with a small white ring of head and no lacing. The beer is well carbonated but absolutely no lacing. The smell is a mild wheat scent with a mild sweetness that lingers on. It doesnt do much for the nose with the smell. The taste is your typical wheat beer with the wheat up front and the mild fruit taste in the background. It is okay but the taste doesnt linger around long enough to tell the flavors. The mouthfeel afterwards is decent with the what flavor hanging around but is very crisp and clean. Overall, this beer is your typical run of the mill wheat beer that doesnt have any pop or stand out from the rest.

Bottle. Light blond colour with small white head. Taste is lightly fruity, bit of bitterness. Easy drinking. Aroma is tropical fruit, bit sweet and syrupy, but alright. Overwhelmingly seems like just a wheat beer with some syrup.

Slightly Hazy Yellow, Small Head, Light Lacing. Probably the nicest thing about this beer is its aroma - Passion Fruit. Sweet, Passion Fruit, Wheat Sour Finish. I think it is Too Sour and Over carbonated. Drinkable, but just OK for me...

Bottle from Asahiya. Grainy, very floral aroma. The passionfruit note is like sweat mixed with cologne. Clear medium straw color. Grainy, grassy initial / fruit takes off a bit in mid and melds with the mild hops / finish is dull but clean. Thin body. The fruit adds a somewhat dark note to this light style. Okay.

Honey, pineapple nose. Deep passion fruit flavor, sour sweet finish. Fun drink but a bit too fruity for my liking.

Smells fruity and with some mild grain. Pours pale golden mostly clear, no head at all. Taste is moderatly sweet with a little bit of tartness from the passion fruit. It definetly tastes like passion fruit but not much else. The body is a little too light and watery but could be sessioned at the beach like most of Kona’s core line.

Tap at Buckeye, suspect to poor beer handling, the fruit is gone, I get no passionfruit or tropical flavors, just musty wheat like wheat that is wet then trampled, it makes for a weird taste, there in the finish is some semblance of fruit but its too far gone.
