3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On-tap, served in a standard bar pint glass.
Poured a hazy pale straw yellow with an frothy white head that slowly settled into a thin sudsy lacing, light amount of sticky lace at the brim of the glass.
I could smell the passion fruit as the bartender brought the pint over to where I was sitting, bright and fresh smelling, mainly the plump pulp of the passion fruit, a unique sweet and sourness. Faint malt backing of crackery wheat.
The passion fruit is a bit more laid back in the taste, just a splash of juice, mildly tart and sweet, mixing nicely with the wheat malts. The wheat malts are dry saltine cracker-like. This has the light bodied feel one would expect for this type of wheat ale, quite easy to consume. Finishes dry with passion fruit juice flavor being pushed aside by the wheat grainy crackers.
I liked this fruity wheat ale from Kona, went well with the club sandwich I had for lunch today.

Bottle. Pours a hazy gold, white head that disapates quickly. Aroma is wheat dominated, maybe some malt. Flavor was again wheat, malt and in the background, passionfruit, not enough there, it was hiding, teased you, then disappeared.

Bottle from my bro who brought it from Hawaii. Cloudy golden color. Smell of wheat, malt, citrus and wine. Taste of malt, wheat, citrus, tart and dry. At sometimes, theres to much wheat, and other times, there is to much sweetness.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Well I know good wheat beers and this isn’t one. Pours a somewhat hazy yellow like it doesn’t know whether it’s filtered or unfiltered. Good carbonation but it comes with a stale wheat malt flavor and something I can’t pick up - so it must be the passion fruit. Finish is dry for a wheat and uneven. Good for Kona it’s just a seasonal so they don’t subject their customers to this year round.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Small white head that fades quickly to a thin ring, sparse spotty lace. Hazy, pale gold color. Nose is lightly spicey, yeasty with faint citrus notes, minerally. Body is light, low carbonation, almost watery. Light toasted malts, lemony notes, faint grassiness, lightly metallic with some yeasty notes as well. Dry, light, crisp quick finish. Bottle procured in a trade with SDbruboy, thanks Cliff!
