Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editor’s Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

Very pale yellow with an orange tint. Disappointingly non-existant fizzy head. Nose opens with the standard tang of an american style wheat beer before opening into a significant amount of citrus. If you’ve ever sipped passion fruit juice, that flavor will be unmistakable, but I believe there’s a helping of some citrus hops backing this as well. If I were a bee, I’d be attracted to the perfumes of this one. The beer is on the light side of medium-bodied and is a little thin on the palate. It’s malty, dry, and crisp with a short, clean finish. The passion fruit reappears at the end. As flavored wheat beers go, you can do worse. This might be a good one for your anti-beer friends.

Bottle poured a clear golden yellow with a small quickly disapating white head. Aromas of skunk bud, passion fruit and straw. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of wheat, straw, light fruitiness and a hint of citrus with a crisp slightly dry finish. Overall a boring wheat beer other than the nose.

12 oz single purchase;( packaged on May 02/07) Plain clear golden yellow, small splotchy white head. Definatlly lots of passion fruit in the aroma at least, nice underlieing wheatiness.. Good aroma. Taste is not quite as nice as the aroma, its quite bland up until just before it goes down the throat, then there is a burst of passion fruit and lemon. Some wheat too. Its Ok on the palate, average. Ok drinker, though I am happy I only bough a single.

Bottle: Pours a transparent yellow with a small white head that is gone quickly. Nose of tropical fruit and wheat, fairly mild in intensity. Taste is a bland wheaty, watery, citrus flow. Not to thrilled about this one.

Bottle poured a clear gold color with small white head. Aroma was a stange fruit with some hops and wheat. The taste was one of a kind with a funky pasion fruit flavor mixed with tart wheat malt.

Bottle pours a clear very pale yellow witha thin quick fizzy white head. After a moment it is gone and ther is no real lacing. Stale cereal and fruity apricot aroma. Pale light malts, a slight wheat and apricots and faint wheat notes. Dry somewhat chalky palate and a touch citrusy, leamon on the trailer. Pass.

Bottle from Henry’s. Pours medium golden in color. Aroma is slightly sweet with wheat and a bit of fruitiness. Flavor is fairly grainy with a little bit of a fruity flavor. Some bitterness as well. Fairly refreshing.

Bottle; Pours a wheaty yellow; with medium to small white head. Aroma was of wheat and alot of fruit (guessing passion fruit). To me this beer was pretty bland; normal american wheat style, with a passion fruit twist. Easy drinking, and a hint of malt. For the style, it was probably above average.

Bottle: Pours a yellow gold cloudy with a 1 finger white head. A little malt but mostly passion fruit in the aroma. The flavor was pretty much all passion fruit and peach like flavors. In one sense this beer should be highly rated for its really great and natural flavors yet it was very unbeerlike and reminded me of a mango margarita. Then again it went down extremely easy and i was surprised when i looked over and my glass was empty. Not much depth to this beer but if you like passion fruit you’ll probably love it.
