COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editor’s Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

Clear yellow color, high carbonation. White head with some lace. Aroma is not nice AT ALL! Could remind you of cat urine. Taste isn’t much better. Skip this one.

Pours a very clear straw color, with a little head. Mouthfeel is a little malty for a wheat beer. Definitely some fruity character, mostly bland. Kind of a boring beer, but easy drinking.

I poured a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass... The beer was a clear, pale yellow with a thin, bubbly, white head. It smells lightly fruity and sour with a hint of wheat. The taste slightly puckers the cheeks, it’s just a bit tart, there is a sour fruit flavor along with lemon and lime. The flavor is very subtle. The beer is light with some prickly carbonation and a smooth finish. This beer is an interesting wheat, the slightly sour aspect is different than other wheats that I have had. It’s not amazing but I would drink it again.

Reviewed from notes. Poured into a weizen glass. Color is a pretty cloudy yellow with a bit of an apricot tint to it. White head falls pretty quickly, though was fairly large to start. The nose is mostly wheat but does have a subtle aroma of passion fruit. The taste is more so just light wheat and grain with a subtle fruitiness. Fairly light feel. I wish they would have gone for a bit more o the passion fruit flavor and played around with some sort of light hopping, or added in a more-flavorful yeast. Found this for the first time at the local this week, thought I’d give it a try. It came in a mixed 6 pack with 3 different brews. Pours a clear straw/gold color with a thin white head that dissipates to a cap. Smells of spicy wheat, a fruit that I assume is passion fruit, not much else. Taste is light, wheaty with a fruity tartness that I’ve never tasted before. I assume that fruit is passion fruit. Syrupy/watery mouthfeel, crisp carbonation, medium light body. Decent brew, again nothing spectacular, but would be great on a hot summer day.

Pours light gold into a snifter. White head quickly subsides to nothing. Sour butterscotch aromas. Sharp sour butterscotch and tropical fruits from front to back. Dry sour tropical fruit finish.

Tap at brewery. Pours hazy golden with white head. Aroma is straight lillikoi. Taste is more passion fruit, a bit watery though. Not much substance in there aside from what appears to be lillikoi juice. Thin on the palate, finishes fruity.
