COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bottom-fermented dark beer speciality, which is manufactured in traditional Bavarian brewing procedure.

Looks like cola coming out of the bottle with a small white head. Nice aromas of chocolate, nuts and some caramel. Tastes the same as it smells but the flavors are not as pronounced as the aromas. Slightly watery body with a clean finish. A fairly average Dunkel

Bottle. Pours clear dark brown with black highlights and a large, frothy beige head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is chocolate and toast malt, dates, figs and light earthy hops. Flavor is moderate chocolate and toast malt, light earthy hops and bitterness, light dark malt derived fruits and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Picked this up at a great beer shop in Darmstadt, Germany, Maruhn Welt der Getränke. Hazy amber-brown pour with a two finger foamy off-white head with nice retention and lacing. The nose is classic Weizen with lots of banana, clove, caramel, brown bread, molasses, and some subtle mineral notes. The taste follows suit with tons of sweet caramel malt along with hints of banana, clove, brown sugar, banana bread, tobacco, and molasses. The mouthfeel is thick and chewy with perfect carbonation and great balance. Overall, this is one of my favorite interpretations of the style.

I do not wax on poetically about beer but I do know the quality of a beer once tasted. This review is not about my tastes but reinforces the numbers, which are arbitrary.

gift from Kyle (son) on a trip home from Germany - Thanks!!! --- Aroma of malt and burlap (good aroma). Clear amber brown color, beige two-finger head that persists, strings of lace. Taste is light malt, carbonation, and light bittering. Very simple brew, very light, but balanced and satisfying.

Dark bronze with little tan head. Aroma is roasted nuts and earth (not negative). Taste is a decent bitterness and nothing much else. Fits into the picture very well. Body is full and very smooth mouthfeel. I totally recommend this. It may be not so complex but the one thing it has is perfect.

Pours dark copper brown from the bottle with a creamy head that lingers for the duration. Weak roasted malt and caramel aromas greet the nose. Taste is white bread and caramel malt. The finish trends more towards sour than bitter. The body is on the lightish side. While not watery, a bit more robustness would have done the brew good. That said, this is one of those brews that grew on me over the course of the bottle. Pleasant, smooth, and reliable. However I would have preferred a richer malt taste, and more bitterness and less sourness in the finish.
