A bottom-fermented dark beer speciality, which is manufactured in traditional Bavarian brewing procedure.

Bottle to pint. Looks good; a very slightly hazy (mostly transparent) golden orange with foamy white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells and tastes semi-sweet and yeasty with notes of clove. Average on the palate. Not bad.

Dark brown with big head and lace. Clean fresh bread slight yeast. Flavor is thin light, sweet and smokey bitter. Very clean palate. So quaffable though not especially inviting or complex. Nothing wrong either.

Bottle with Bob at dinner. Pours a moderate brown to red with light head. Aroma of wheat chaff and malt. Taste is a little sweet malty syrup with slight stale hops. Probably an old stale bottle.

Flavour of cooking apple, stewed tea and toast. Flavour of caramel malt, metal and light spice. Medium body with an oily texture. Average carbonation. A solid Dunkel.
