2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap on 6/2/08. Had this at the König Ludwig Biergarten just outside of the Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein castles. I quote my notes "Another boring dunkel. Nothing offensive about this beer, but I’m writing my notes on it one day after I drank it and I don’t remember anything special about it. Just that it was easy to drink but boring and lacking character."

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
0.5 l bottle. 05.08.15. Deep amber / mahogany colour with a creamy light tan head, which lasted well and left some very nice lacing. Sweet, malty aroma with vanilla, sweet chocolate, a touch of roastiness and some caramel. Light / medium sweetness and only a hint of bitterness. Light to medium body; slightly thin but smooth texture and average carbonation. A quietly confident beer. I could happily spend an evening on this one. 8.

It is a typical black German beer. It is dry and there is a regular taste of caramel. The colour is normal black-brown transparent. It is a good beer before to drink one doppel bock or porter.

Red-tinged brown beer, beige head. Nose is malty, bready, some caramel in there, toasty-burned notes. Flavor is toasty malt, sweetness, some burned bitterness in the dry finish. Not complex by any means, but clean and pretty quaffable.
