COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bottom-fermented dark beer speciality, which is manufactured in traditional Bavarian brewing procedure.

500ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours hazy amber, thin off-white head. Aromas of green apple, light spice, caramel. Taste is sweet, light herbal notes. Creamy texture, carbonation stops the finish being sticky. Not bad.

Banana, caramel, sweet finish. Unimpressive for a dunkel, too sweet and quite off-style.

DAA; Take away from Frankfurt. Pours clear copper with a large, frothy, off-white, short to moderate lasting, lacing head. Nose is roasted malt, caramel, bread, dark dried fruits and light spice. Taste is light to moderate sweet, light bitter and light spicy with a somewhat lasting finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

500 ml bottle bought at Wellcome Superstore in Sheung Shui.

Clear amber brown colour; Explosive two-finger head and crumpety light-beige foam which lasted for 2 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing and fizzy carbonation; Fragrant and sweet aroma of amber malt, with moderate roastyness, molasses, light sugar, light caramel, light cream, very light coffee and faint grass; Close to light sweet taste of light roasted malt, with light nuts, caramel, faint toffee, molasses, faint chocolate, lemon, very light bitter hops and light grass; Mid to light body. Slick palate; Mouth feel is very malty but only moderate roasty and light nutty as the grain bills are combinations of pale and dark malts. Quite slick to the tongue with good molasses, not too sweet. Also really low caramel and thin coffee and cream, taste as in the taste of an average Bitter. Very clean taste otherwise. So-so… Hoppiness is faint grass in nose, lemon and light grass in taste. Bitterness - extract by the way - is moderate to light for an abrupt and inoffensive low-fi bitter semi finish; Slightly dry after taste; Malty and very easy to mouth.

Comments: A very good looking and clean-tasting Dunkel - no off-taste, low sweetness, and no mustiness. The rich mix of pale and dark malt renders this one low in caramel / coffee-led dark beer aroma and taste. Just meant to be easy drinking and for a good time. Slightly above average.
