I first experienced Konig en train from Paris to Mannheim before I realized how readily available it is in the US. I thoroughly enjoyed it then and I was inspired to closely review it again. This beer is everything I expect out of a fine pilsener, and then some. The right level of bitterness, pleasant aroma, and fulfilling aftertaste - needs a little more finish.

Not much to say about this. It’s a little better than average pilsner. Also lots of sediment floating around in it - an unfiltered pilsner? It’s a good beer for a hot day.

A bit skunky nose but also hoppy with a golden body and a little rocky head. It is nice to drink it but doesn’t knock you out of your shoes, more average but well balanced Pilsener

Sad to say this, but I was expecting much more from this German pilsener. I ’ve had better Canadian ones.

A very nice pilsener with a good dry flavor. A good beer to cut the summer heat.

Clear, crisp, and refreshing as any pilsener ought to be, but there were things that made this brew, in my mind, stand out for other pilseners. Was fairly malty and tasted grape-ish and sweet to start. Finished with a hint of hops, but didn’t finish as clean as I was hoping. Maybe it was a lack of carbo, but it just felt oily. A good pilsener, as far as they go.

nice clean looking and smelling pilsner, but without a strong character. just didn’t stand out.

Light golden, good head.
Some aroma from bitterhops, but it does not reappear in the taste.
Instead it has a rather sticky sweet malttaste which together with a rather low carbonation gives it a bad mouthfeeling.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2009 Colour is pale golden, head is weak. Sweet and malty aroma with notes of bread and herbs. Dry-ish, grainy flavour. Grassy bitterness, salty finish.

Slightly sulfury nose and a light gold color. Pleasant malty taste and subtle bitter finish. Gritty mouth feel, but overall smooth. An OK German pils, but not spectacular.
