A great pils, nice bitterness, lots of carbonation, nice drinking brew, fuller body than most pils, some grain, but very nice.

In a can all the way from Kenora, ON courtesy of my good pal Piscator (again). Nice for a Pils, not quite as zippy as Urquell, but very enjoyable.

Another great German pilsener - grainy, hoppy, full bodied. Dry end, reasonable carbonation - definitely recommended among pils.

UPDATED: AUG 8, 2006 Bright pale gold, crystal pils with some sweet honeyish notes at the front, and a pleasing bitterness/ breadiness at the end. Not a bad pils at all. Frosted mugs aplenty beside the pool in Corfu.

500 ml can from a friend.
Yellow color, white head. Sweet malty scent, like maple syrup. Not much taste, but refreshing. Low to medium bitterness. Normal mouthfeel.

Pours bright clear gold with light fizzy carbonation and a nice sized white head. Aroma is smooth malt with only a hint of hops. Taste starts off clean and grainy - a hint of astringency, but not too bad. Carbonation gives way to the finish that has some hops coming into the mix - not as much as I’d like in a pils, but it is okay. the beer is medium bodied. Not bad for a pilsener. I’d have it again.

Draught White, rocky head, which is fully lasting. Clear, yellow body. Fair lace. Weak aroma of malts and hops. Moderately bitter in the beginning, lightly bitter in the end. Lightly bodied and softly carbonated. A decent, hop-bitter pilsener that looks great.

New offering on tap at my local, served in a standard bar pilsener glass. Made a good appearance, poured a clear pilsener yellowish gold with a foamy white head slowly that settled into a thin lacing, very minimal amount of sticking, good carbonation. Had a good pilsener nose of floral and grassy hops with a backing sweet bready maltiness. A malty crisp and smooth lightish medium bodied mouthfeel, good drinkability. Crisp sweet bready maltiness with a balancing spicy, grassy hoppiness, a soft bitterness and a dry grainy and spicy finish that cleanses the palate. Tasty and balanced pilsener, very refreshing.

Maybe my favorite Pilsener, maybe not. A style that doesn’t hit with a home run, but this one subsided all grassy malts / hoppiness and only slightly came out grassy hoppy. For that much, kudos. Not bad at all. Only very light grassy hops with almost a kolsch base. Very nicely balanced. Enjoyable.
