UPDATED: FEB 21, 2011 500ml can. A very good pilsener, very smooth mouthfeel and excellent taste of fresh lemony, springy hops, Der Koenig der Biere? Maybe not, but it beats the shit out of Budweiser. ____________________________ 12 oz bottle, I’ve also had this from a can and it was pretty good. It pours a deep gold with a nice big white head. One of the better smelling pilseners, this is the definition of a balanced traditional pilsener in the nose. It is one of the more flavorful pilseners, it is nicely balanced, not the best flavor, but good. It’s a great pilsener, maybe better out of the can too which is rare. 330ml can poured into a Pilsner glass. Appearance is clear pale yellow with a large off-white head that reduced quickly, leaving some lacing. Aroma of cereal, grass and mineral notes. Flavours of cereal, wheat bread and a hint of herbs. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Palate is light bodied, somewhat slick texture and average carbonation. König Pilsener is style typical and pretty good for what it is.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Boulder Liquor Mart. Clear golden appearance with an off white head. Skunk nose - some grain, lemon, sweet, husky grain. Moderate high bitterness. Moderate sweetness. A little metallic, slightly oxidized, sweet husky flavor. I’ve never found a fresh bottle of this in the US.

330 ml bottle bought at Cheers in Yuen Long.

Clear light golden honey colour; Less than one-quarter finger head and soapy white foam which fades in 15 seconds; Small sticky lacing with active small carbonation; Fairly pungent smell of malt, with floral, sugar, light bread, lemon and light grass; Mid to light sweet taste of malt, with strong molasses, light grape juice, biscuits, quite strong lemon, and fairly strong bitter grassy hops; Close to light body. Thin and slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is moderate malt in rather light body, good maltyness but sweet. Strong molasses is close to sugary. Not much floral, good tea biscuit, strong lemony hops to round. Fair enough… Hoppiness is light floral, strong and grass in nose and taste. Bitterness is increasingly strong with further sips for a lasting sweet-bitter finish; Fairly dry after taste. Sweet and quite bitter to mouth.

Comments: This is a German Pils which is lacking on almost all fronts - aroma, maltyness, body and yeast. Pils bitterness is kinda okay but not enough to offset the sweetness. King of Pils? Cheap stuff really.

tap @ Lübeck, rated 2015-04-18
Clear golden orange beer with big white head. Aroma has grainy and sweet malts, rubbery diacetyl and herbal hops. Flavor is herbally hoppy and malty. Palate is quite thin with strong carbonation and feel of bitterness. Finish has quite strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bready and herbal. Clean german Pils with quite harsh herbalness.
