The world’s first and only Trappist white ale that continues to ferment slightly after bottling. Brewed using only water, wheat, and hops. No herbs are added. Saphir hops give the ale its citrusy aroma. A real thirst-quencher on a hot summer’s day that also makes for a delicious drink at any other time of the year.

Aroma: Wheat forward nose with light tartness; a little orange peel; some hop derived spiciness that reminds me of cloves. Appearance: Very pale, hazy, well carbonated yellow pour with a foamy white head that sticks around. Flavor: Wheat up front with still a touch of tartness; orange peel really kicks in as the flavor develops, leading to a lightly spicy, mostly dry finish. Palate: Medium body, thick texture, effervescent carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Among Witbiers I’ve had, only Hitachino White tops this. And, with my bottle being purchased at $2.99, this is much more affordable.

Sápadt, opálos citrom színű testén pihe-puha habpaplan képződik, aromái üdék, krémesen teltek, mennyei szegfűszeges, vaníliás illatfonalakkal szövik be a levegőt. Mesés illatait friss, karakteres gabona, aranyló búzatáblák mannájának képe követi, íze tökéletesen sima, ugyanakkor pezsdítő; egy rétegnyi csípős fűszeresség alatt bújnak meg az eleven, élesztőtől körülölelt, citrusosan vibráló zamatok. Egyszerű séma mentén haladó, mégis nagyszerű vonásokkal megáldott trappista alkotás.

Robe blonde et opaque. Mousse bien. Saveurs d’ agrumes et fruits jaunes. Texture epaisse, carbonatation fine. Assez longue en bouche. Je suis un peu déçu. Je m’attendais ŕ mieux d’une trappiste.

Bottle 330ml. Clear light yellow with big stable frothy white head, quite fizzy. Aroma of wheat and orange, earthy with notes of candy, a bit sweaty. Flavor of citrus and wheat, notes of herbs and black pepper, moderate bitterness, a bit watery. Very carbonated, light to medium-bodied.

What a beauty. The beer has a yellow color. It is quite pale, with a whit glow, it really fulfills the name witbier. The foam is quite rough but perfectly white. The bulk disapears quickly, but there remains a thin layer of foam to cover the treat. The smell is perfect. There is this remarkable La Trappe aroma, delicious. The smell is sweet and has a hint of white chocolate. Very nice. The smell is filled with aroma’s, more to describe. Already the best witbier around, without even tasting. The taste is good. It has the bitterness of beer and the sweetness a decent witbier is supposed to have. Perfect, the monks of the O.L.V. Koningshoeve monastery resly know how to brew beer. Great.
