The world’s first and only Trappist white ale that continues to ferment slightly after bottling. Brewed using only water, wheat, and hops. No herbs are added. Saphir hops give the ale its citrusy aroma. A real thirst-quencher on a hot summer’s day that also makes for a delicious drink at any other time of the year.

Aroma: Hints of lemon.

Appearance: Straw coloured, cloudy body. White fluffy head. No visible carbonation.

Taste: Sweet flavour. A little chalky. Banana and orange notes. Perhaps some toffee and spices. Slightly cloying.

Palate: Sticky mouthfeel. Dry finish.

Overall: A complex tasting beer that’s a little too sweet for my liking.

Tasted on 8/3/11 from a 330mL bottle. Pours cloudy pale yellow with a bit of an orange tint and a thick, very smooth, white head that slowly recedes to a thin, even layer of lace. The nose is spicy orange peel and cardamom, along with light wheaty cereal malt and a bit of fruity Belgian yeast. The flavor is a bit more restrained than the nose would have suggested, with the light wheat malt up front, and moving to the fruity yeast notes, orange peel, and classic witbier spices. The body is light with very lively and stinging carbonation, and a medium wheat malt and lightly spicy finish.

Enjoyable first try of Belgian White as a style. Light hazy gold colour with a small white head. Orange peel, yeasty nose. Orange taste, hint of lemon peel also there. Dry finish, very light, enjoyable beer.

Great hoppy beer. Says Trappist, but has so much wheat beer character. Fresh grassy hops, gentle malt. Definite thirst quencher

Dull yellow hazy with small bubbles in the white head. Some orange and cooked corn. Sweet and very uninteresting. Short ending. (25cl tap)

On tap. Murky pale golden with creamy head that quickly diminishes. Aroma is citrus and yeasty. Flavour is dense malty with a final a few watery. Average carbonation, light body.

0.33l bottle from Systembolaget Passagen, Stockholm. This one pours a clouded golden-yellow body with a massive and fluffy white head. The aroma is zesty, orange, wheat, coriander, white pepper and yeast. Lively carbonation and a light oily and fizzing mouthfeel. The flavors are also wheaty, white pepper, yeast orange zest, hay and yeast. Ends pepperish and herbal. Really nice, but had definitely deserved a bit more body. Refreshing.

33cl bottle. Hazy yellow with a big white head. Nose : Yeasty smell with citrus notes. I sense also some horseradish and yogurt like aromas. Sip (finally) : Smooth body with typical carbonation for this kind of beer. Fluffy but not annoying.Nose aromas came into life and I also discovered that it wasn’t my hands (while food preparation) that had that smoky aroma around the beer, it was definitely the beer. There is something about this beer that push it towards blonde ale. Nice.

330 ml bottle picked up in Belgium and dragged off to Germany. Pours a hazy gold color with a short lived white head, some lacing. Very spicy, fruity aroma with lemon peel, orange and banana. Taste is lightly dry, acidic and very spicy with lemon peel, orange and hint of banana. Palate is light, but ends a lttle too dry for me. A good beer on a hot day in the summer.
