COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The world’s first and only Trappist white ale that continues to ferment slightly after bottling. Brewed using only water, wheat, and hops. No herbs are added. Saphir hops give the ale its citrusy aroma. A real thirst-quencher on a hot summer’s day that also makes for a delicious drink at any other time of the year.

Bottle, kindly shared by abemorsten. Pours hazy golden with minimal head. A default wit bier. Nothing special about this. Highly carbonated.

Pours a light straw color with a nice white quick falling head. Aroma is traditional wheat, with citrus, spices (mostly coriander). The beer is lively on the palate, a bit thin and watery. Finishes off with some spices and then some low bitterness. An ok, beer, but my least favorite of the LaTrappe beers.

bottle@home: hazy yellow with white bubbly head that doesn’t last long, typical but weak witbeer flavours, heavy on wheat, some yeast, spices (coriander?) & citrus, kind of thin & watery, dry end, plety carbonation, I am not impressed by this one & frankly I would pick Hoegaarden over this one, only witbier trappist but if this is any indication, don’t know if we need more, nowhere near the level of the other trappists that I have tried so far, sold as La Trappe Witbeer in Belgium

[3/7/11] Draught at Arendsnest in Amsterdam. Hazy pale golden. Aroma of wheat, pleasant fruit esters and some yeast. Sweetish fruity flavor with a bit of spiciness, especially towards the drier finish. A good thirst-quenching Witbier. A bit like a German Hefeweizen.

Pours cloudy copper golden with a decent head. Wheat aroma, not very strong. Taste of citrus and spices. Slight on the sour side. Small noticable bitterness lingering in the finish along with the sourness. Light bodied and slight watery. High carbonation.

An excellent white beer that stands equal to the great Hoegaarden. Slightly different, but nice.
