The world’s first and only Trappist white ale that continues to ferment slightly after bottling. Brewed using only water, wheat, and hops. No herbs are added. Saphir hops give the ale its citrusy aroma. A real thirst-quencher on a hot summer’s day that also makes for a delicious drink at any other time of the year.

Danke an Faustusl für das Bier. Das Bier schmeckt etwas zitronig, weiterhin etwas hefig und säuerlich. Der zitronige und bittere Abgang gefällt mir ebenfalls nicht wirklich, es wirkt alles etwas schal. Test vom 5.11.2006 Noten: 7,6,5,4,9,5 - 5,40

Bottle (label says La Trappe Witte) at the Rake. It pours hazy straw yellow, with a massive fluffy white head and fine carbonation. The nose is wheat, farmyard, lemon, grapefruit, salt and butter. The taste is wheat, bread, grass, hay, weak lemon and grapefruit, pear drop sweets and butter, with a buttery-hay finish. It has sharp carbonation, a full body and is quite filling. A decent Belgian white.

The aroma flies out the bottle as soon as you open it. It has lemon, clove and fresh mowed grass in it. Really fresh and fruity. Too bad it disappears quickly, that costs a few points. Once poured in the glass, it forms a huge thick head that keeps popping. Very nice and it looks great in it’s own glass. The flavour has again the lemon, but also the coriander and Granny Smith apples in it. But unfortunately, the taste is gone pretty quickly as well. Leaves you craving for another sip. Best to enjoy on the first nice spring day in the garden

330 ml bottle from Systembolaget. Pours pale hazy yellow with white head. Lemon-like aroma with some floral elements. Flowery, citric flavour with faint hint of malt and hops. Medium carbonation, light and fresh, great on a hot summer day.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2011 750 ml corked bottle. Pale hazy yellow colour, heavy large foam. Smell is the usual for the style, but somehow weaker: lemon, spices (cloves, coriander), and a hint of banana. Taste is more spicy, cloves, cardamom, citrus, coriander but yet weaker than usual. Refreshing, easy drinkable, feels very good in the tongue. I only wish it was a bit more complicated.
