COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The world’s first and only Trappist white ale that continues to ferment slightly after bottling. Brewed using only water, wheat, and hops. No herbs are added. Saphir hops give the ale its citrusy aroma. A real thirst-quencher on a hot summer’s day that also makes for a delicious drink at any other time of the year.

Bottle at home. I don’t understand all of those average ratings. I think it’s a very nice and special beer. A bit sour, full body. Amazing taste in the mouth, nice flavor. I’m convinced, will drink this a lot more in the future!

From the bottle pours a yellow troubled beer with a nice foam covering. It had all the typical white beer marks. This all results in a refreshing beer which maybe is used best in the summer. In the Netherlands it’s never hot so you can drink it whole the year! Our all night long, all night!

330ml bottle poured in its own tulip glass @ Domus brewery - Leuven, Belgium A: Pours the traditional cloudy yellow to beige color forming a big white aired and bubbled head. Medium retention and many lacings left S: Also smells like a traditional white beer. Very spicy and refreshing. Wheat, coriander, citrus hops, orange zest and yeasts T: Follows the nose. However, much less tasty that I’ve expected. Taste is quite dry and again, the combination of wheat, coriander, orange zest and citrus hops M: Light body. Good carbonation. Mild citrus and bitter aftertaste O: Very drinkable and refreshing beer as expected from the style. Low ABV. But I still prefer a Hoegaarden :) [ BA Review @ 12/29/2011 ]

We know that monks know how to brew, but can they do wit? Looks like dry hay-yellow/pineapple-colored margarita, served with a slice of lemon (!?) The lemon / lime dominates the aroma somewhat, but further down the glass it becomes more typically wit-like with additional notes of yeast. The taste comes in two distinct peaks -- the first is a fairly standard wit with slightly monastery-vinous undertones, the second is a prickly fruitiness which comes together with a delayed carbonation kick. La Trappe knows better, but this is WELL within my standards of acceptability.

Pale greenish gold, cloudy, large white head; taste is wheat, lemony citrus, coriander, spice; dry finish; smooth and well balanced; very refreshing; best wheat beer I’ve had in a while.

BOTTLE 33 CL. Look: hazy bright golden, white smallish frothy to creamy head. Aroma: blond fruit perfume, flowery, a bit spicy/yeasty, white toasted bread. Not much traditional bitter orange or coriander. Taste:delicate blond fruit bitterness, with character (that tart and fruity wheat), toasted bread,

A witbier shifted well towards the regular belgian blonds.

Bottle 033 @ home. Pours light yellow and cloudy, with excellent lacing and full lasting white head. Just like Belgian Wit must be. Aroma is fresh and spicy, light malt, wheat, herbas and citrus. Taste is somehow sweet with tart citrus notes, herbs and yeast. Light body, lively carbonation. I like this style and it’s not bad, but I miss something more.
