3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330ml bottle. Pours a hazy medium chestnut, with a smallish off-white head, which lasts fairly well but does not leave much lacing. The main notes in the aroma are biscuit and charry malt, with some mild resin hops. Fruity and resin hops introduce it, with some lime playing around the edges. Biscuit and burnt caramel malt in the mid-palate, with a touch of resin in the finish. This is a fairly simple pale ale, nice enough, but nothing too exciting.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Looking for a new sessionable summer beer, fits the bill as a hoppy ale that keeps it down to 4.7%. Haven't had this is about 9 months.
Pours deep amber caramel colour with an off-white head that subsides, leaving an impressive amount of lacing.
Smells of pine, citrus, not too hoppy, but pleasant. Again, not needing a huge smell for my session beer.
Very nicely balanced taste. Pleasant bitterness, quite dry. Caramel, citrus, malts are there. *Perhaps* a minor level of diacetyl, but not off-putting.
The bitterness carries the dry mouth well. Very refreshing in hot weather.
All in all, way up there for an Australian sunshine beer!! Leaps and bounds ahead of little creatures - as good as many of your US session beers. Manageable alcohol level and a beautiful combination of pine fruits, subtle hop bitterness and caramel to enjoy on a hot day. More balanced than Mornington IPA, and pleasantly sessionable unlike the (otherwise fantastic) hop hog. You'll certainly notice it going down. Good price and even available at Dan Murphy's now. You could nurse 2 or 3 in the time you'd drink 5 or 6 Carlton's. Much better than their disappointing Valhalla Golden Ale. The Witbier, Milk Porter and Black IPA are all fantastic too.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours fairly hazy gold to amber colour. Decent head with good retention and lacing. The hop aroma doesn’t stand out like it should for an APA. Just a few resiny notes sit atop a caramel and biscuit malt aroma. Taste is quite malty for an APA, but quite nice. There is a slightly toasted flavour, but enough bitterness to finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Good solid APA. Nice aroma and lovely hop flavours, abates quickly and has a dry bitter finish. Not world beating but really enjoyable.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a cloudy copper with tan head. Big malty nose: sticky caramel and toast. American hops present a short resin hop aroma with a slight grapefruit back. Flavour is pretty big for a pale ale, malt really present on the tongue and hops take a backseat until the lingering bitterness. Quite well bodied for a standard pale ale, interesting take on an APA.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Now known as the Kooinda American Pale ale. Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Pours a clear medium copper colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is malty with a little hoppiness in the background. The flavour is medium to strong bitter, a little malty and with lots of bitterness on the palate and in the aftertaste. A nice beer which is a little sadly all about the bitterness and not much else. We need more flavour.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Quite a sweet aroma. A little citrus and honey. Flavour follows through. An oily palette and a bittetness that starts light but builds in the aftertaste. Not bad.
