2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 BoBoChamp (4183) - Gent, BELGIUM - JUL 29, 2008
33cl, recently out of business, exclusive brewery, brew with lavender, last tasted one year ago from the brewery, heavy, not balanced brew, hazy greypurple! colour, small head, nothing special, but very original brew!
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ante (3374) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 2, 2008
Bottled, thanks Björn! It’s looks like a homebrew brewed by Homer Simpson at the power-plant, sickly grayish green-turquoise with a greyish white creamy head. Very spicy aroma of anise-seeds, mint, ginger, lavender in the surprisingly well-constructed and well-blended aroma. medium-bodied with smooth flavours of licorice, lavender, yeast and mint. Herbal yeasty finish with touches of anise. Gimmicky colour but the beer itself was surprisingly well-balanced despite it’s unorthodox flavours.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 sayravai (4655) - Helsinki, FINLAND - FEB 25, 2008
(Bottled) Clear, very strange dark violet color with a smallish, tight and pink-blue head. Mild, very neutral aroma with some blueberries. Blueberry continues in the flavor, with some sugar and licorice-like, but yet unidentified substances. Cannot find the honey here. Light to medium-bodied, smooth-carbonated palate. This is some strange stuff...
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 goozen (2313) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - NOV 24, 2007
Bottle 0,33: Strange brew with a green-blond colour and a lavender aroma also honey in it and by suprise purple-red yeast. Really a strange brew but its great.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 omhper (17466) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 7, 2007
Bottled. Looks like some bizarre chemical experiment: Murky turquise green with pale green head. Evident herbal lavender aroma. Sweet with light-medium body and soft mouthfeel. Spicy lavender flavour dominates, sweet malt support it. No bitterness. Besides being the ugliest beer on earth it’s actually pretty good.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 oh6gdx (18576) - Vasa, FINLAND - JUN 16, 2007
Bottled. first thought was WTF?!? green? Colour is dark absinthe green. head is mediumsized and white. Pouring in the yeast leads to red dots in the white head. Totally weird and osbscure. Aroma is a lot of herbs, ginger, some yeast and citrus. Flavour is ginger, slight juniper, fruits and yeast. Very herbal aftertaste. Oh man what a weird thing. Very refreshing.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 TBone (9999) - Pori, FINLAND - JUN 16, 2007
Bottled
Ok .. this is strangest beer I have ever _seen_. Unclear green color, creamy head and ... red yeast. Very spicey aroma - mainly ginger. Beer itself is not so special - it has also a bit ginger in the flavor, but mainly sweetish notes, very light hops and papery malty flavors. Light spicey aftertaste. Beer for wackos.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 bierkoning (8953) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - JUN 1, 2007
Greenish blonde, cloudy. Ginger, honey and citrus in the aroma. Sweet flavor with lavender, honey and citrus. Sticky palate, otherwise not too bad.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 DenverLogan (428) - MileHi, Colorado, USA - JUL 5, 2006
OK, so I like experimental brews, and sweet beers, and bizarre flavors! I’m way out of step with most raters on this, but hey, I like a rotation of Thai, rockabilly, ska and opera music as well!!
I first tried this May 31, driving between Kerkom and Dupont breweries. I noted that it’s got lavender and honey, and I’d say a lovely balance of spice, blueberries, honey, lavender, and malt. Fun and not too sweet, and not sour. It was purple, and perhaps the recipe has changed over time as some earlier reviews call it more green.
On June 2 at the Delerium Cafe I bought all the available Mortal brews (most are way funky and too sweet) and again found it to have a rich body, nice lavender and honey flavors...a fun beer...Wahoo!!
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Bov (8158) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - JUN 5, 2006
slightly hazy purple-green (!) colour with a little but firm foam; aroma of lavender (it’s like smelling my clothes just being washed); notes of honey and herbs; moderately sweet and medium-bodied at best; dry profile, long herbal and lightly honeyish finish - interesting and without the desperate sweetness of the other Mortal’s beers, but the nose makes it really hard to deal with
