COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kortrijk-Dutsel is a 100 % natural product, brewed with only the best Belgian grains and hops. It is slowly and carefully brewed in the classical multiple steps brew method, staying close to the old brew tradition. Its delicate taste is very refreshing with delicious fruity aroma’s and body. It looks familiar to sparkling white wine but it’s a beer. Alc.vol.8,5%.

Editor’s Note: labeled as 8.9% in the US.

aperitive beer from around Leuven (Belgium, city of stella artois) hazy yellow color, thin head that doesn’t last too long. citrus, fruity, yeasty. Good down to earth aperitive beer. one of my favourites.

Bottle pour at Jimmy's 43 battle of the Belgian event. Bland biere de garde flavor with a nice profile. Decent but not memorable

750ml bottle. Just weird as fuck, soy sauce, some skunkiness, sweet grain, don’t know what to call this stuff but it is weird.

’Apéritif’ beer from a micro brewery which was first called Den Engel but had to change its name because there was already a German brewery of the same name, apparently. Loose, off-white head on a champagne-coloured beer. Aroma of oatmeal, green apple, sour cream, fried eggs, prosecco and off-putting odours of plastic and, sorry, urine. Light sourish taste, soft mouthfeel thanks to the oats, but not well-balanced and ending in a phenolic, unpleasant finish. I am willing to give this a second chance though, perhaps it has improved meanwhile.

Pours gold into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. White grape and grain aromas. Sour dry grape and hot yeast. Like cheap wine.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, fizzy/frothy, white, fully diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), with notes of mold, vinegar, lemon zest, apple skin, alcohol, light note of ammonia. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/fluffy texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Quite disappointing based on the high price. Very moldy and vinegar-like (even a little ammonia, although I’m super-sensitive to that) with not much to allure. Very little going in the mouth either. A very expensive drain pour.

A hazed golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light plums, curacao, coriander, not bad. In mouth, a sweet silky malt with light lemon candy meringue, smooth and quaffable. Sampler at Battle of the Belgians at Jimmys 43.

Poured. From a bottle it is a clear golden beer with a white head. The aroma is of peaches and citrus. The taste is of peach and some citrus with an overtone of champagne flavor
