BückDich (4618), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 16, 2007 Bottle @ IslandHaole’s: Clear, light yellow color, nose of light dry koji, very dry, plenty of alcohol, some rough grass and chewy wheat notes. The flavor is dry, some bright banana and butter notes. Bright impact and a long tail with a buttery rice note, very southern Japan-ish. Harsh but good. Not much nama notes. Plenty of banana though, maybe a bit of almond. I was surprised to find out this was from Niigata. But not as surprised as when Dan’s girlfriend fell for that joke, man we were rolling. IslandHaole (1031), Onna-Son, Okinawa-Ken, Japan Oct 5, 2007 A hint of yellow in the color, an earthy, musty scent. Interesting flavor, buttery with a dry finish. Nice mouthfeel.
*Funny sidenote* I have the word ATTIC at the bottom of my notes on this sake, BuckDich and I had already had plenty to drink and I was playing the "look down your shirt and spell attic" joke to my Japanese girlfriend. She didn’t get it at first which made us laugh even harder.
