2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
12oz. bottle. Slightly hazy yellow orange. Small white head, reduces quickly. Sweet malt, slight fruity and tannic tinges in the aroma. Subdued caramel maltiness, some sugariness as well. A pantina of vegetal character manifests later, and extends into the otherwise residual watery caramel finish. Mouthfeel is light medium, enough body to give the sweetness a stickiness.

Yams. I think sweet potatoes have already been mentioned, but it’s what really stands out in my opinion, too loudly. The initial aroma is ... yams The flavor is one of wild yeast and ... yams. The aftertaste is strongly malty but still possessing a high element of ... yams. The fact that the beer is well-bodied and has just the right level of carbonation keeps me from giving it a complete dud rating - even though I don’t like yams!

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: JUN 28, 2006 This brewer has failed to impress me. This was the only time I have had this particular offering. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a medium golden color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma is sour vegetal malts. The flavor is macro tang with a hint of nutmeg and some other vague tasting spices. The mouthfeel is fairly thin and watery. Completely unimpressive.

The aroma has malt and grassy hops along with a bit of metal and corn. The appearance is golden with a medium clumpy head. The taste is like the aroma with a clean finish. The palate is typical for the style. Overall I just didn’t enjoy this one.

12 oz. bottle thanks to my dad. Pours a pretty light yellow. Sort of a grainy light beer that doesn’t have a very impressive nose and has an even less impressive flavor. Needless to say, I was not impressed.

From the other ratings, it looks like I've missed something here. Lemonadey, stale aroma like recycled paper. Hops have all but disappeared. Possibly didn't age too well as it waited to be bought from China town cellars for possibly years (no use-date however). A bit of a "fizzer". Dumb. Almost a bit salty isn't it?
