Dark, charred and roasty, malty but not overly full. Crisp with hints of nuts and caramel, though not too sweet.

0.5L bottle. Pours clear black with a rocky tan head that lingers. Aromas of coffee, molasses, bready malt and some iron. Very mild sweetness that quickly goes to strong roasted malt and coffee flavors. Finishes with dry, roasted malt bitter and licorice flavors. Medium body with a thin moutfeel and active carbonation. Overall, it’s a fairly unidimensional beer in emphasizing the roasted malt, but very quafable.

On tap at Republic. Pours a clear brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma combines dark grains and molasses with a bit of smoke underlying. Flavor has notes of dark grains and bread with a light smoke note.

Tap. Aroma dark caramel, roasted, somewhat sourish. Small insipid head. Clear dark colour. Taste is a bit neutral, caramel and roasted. Initially rather sweet, finishes bitter, but overall good balance. Only a little thin, watery mouthfeel.

Bottle 50cl. Opaque dark brown color, two finger frothy tan head, recedes rather quickly, thin layer remains, good lacing; aroma roasty malts, licorice, caramel, hint of coffee; roasted sweetbitter taste, a bit dark chocolate; medium body, creamy texture; sweetbitter taste turns to quite bitter in the finish, dark chocolate tones, bit earthy
