3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Kosmokrator (286) - ITALY - MAR 20, 2013

Clear, dark brown in color with ring of tan head. Chocolate, caramel, malt and toast in the aroma. Medium bodied and smooth with a enough carbonation to balance. Malty and finishing semi-sweet. A nice example of a schwartzbier. Solid.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Bif (1021) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - MAR 15, 2013
Pours a dark brown color with a full tan head that fades to nice lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and nutty. Taste is similar to the aroma with roasted malt, chocolate and some nut. Mild bitterness and a dry finish. A solid medium body, smooth with a creamy feel. Nicely balanced. Good beer for the style. worht checking out.

Reviewed 3/12/13.
11.2 oz bottle poured into the PROPER glass (ie. a Kostritzer pilsner glass).
A: Pours a dark ruby red color. The head is a two finger mocha shade that fades rather quickly, befitting a lager. A decent amount of lacing is left on the glass.
S: I notice some roasted nuts, chocolate, roasted barley, lager yeast, and coffee. It does a good job of
T: Drier than the aroma suggested. The initial flavor is mainly roasted barley and coffee. Some lager fruitiness enters the palate in the middle, and the finish is more roasted barley, imparting a very dry feel devoid of significant sweetness. Not complex or exciting, but pleasant.
M: Most pilsners wish they had this level of crisp dryness. Nothing really stays on the palate flavor-wise; I could see the argument for this being ’watery’ in terms of feel. Also thin, airy, and well carbonated.
O: While it is a bit meh flavor-wise, the drinkability factor is superb, as it should be in a good lager. I won’t rush out to the store to buy more, but this really does hit the spot for me.

Thx for the unwanted beer, M. Dark brown with a fizzy light brown cap with minor spex. Dry and mild roast, biscuit, faint sweetness. Better taste - not that the aroma was bad. Light smoke, unknown fruit sweetness is barely there, biscuit, faint bitterness, touch of acid and not the kind I would like right about now. I know I could do spectacular reviews on acid. Mild roast. A bit too gassy but I am drinking this retardedly fast to get to a PVR’d Oilers game that I know they will lose. There is early sharpness on every sip and I don’t think I’ll ever stop listening to Anthrax. When warmer it becomes watery. Silent complexity to be found.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 VanDer1584 (39) - Bavaria, GERMANY - MAR 10, 2013
Very dark colour, as expected from the style. Poor brown head. Roasty flavour, short finish. Not the best beer but not bad for a dark lager.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 nissebajer54 (12) - SWEDEN - MAR 8, 2013
This is the classic schwarzbier stuff! Deep black to ruby red, a long lasting head. Really nice palate, nutty, roasted malts, hints of chocolate and a sweetness that is well balanced with the hops. A refreshing beer, though it looks "heavy", and one of my favourites. Furthermore; nice bottle design!
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 StoutHead (229) - DENMARK - MAR 6, 2013
Bottle. Looks black but held up to a spot it’s deep red. Small white head. Aroma of malt. Very fresh - taste of malt, fruits and sugar. Medium body with a dry aftertaste. Pretty good schwarzbier.

Bottle. Pours an extremely dark brown color with a thick off-white head. Nose is quite malty with some slight nuttiness in there. Taste is also quite malty and just ever so slightly toasty.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Impavidus (60) - Budapest, HUNGARY - MAR 5, 2013
From the tap. Rich dark brown color, slightly lighter than a porter. Aroma and flavor rich of malt, molasses...This is schwarzbier. Quite dry overall, but very Schwarzbier. Carbonic acid first few, but rich in the mouth. It is most definitely a must try. People who like lighter beer might not like it.
I like this beer.
