50 cl bottle. Some light roastiness discernible, but didn’t find the aroma that appealing. Very dark brown, ruby tinged, with coffee cream one-finger head. Lots of liquorice flavour. Pleasantly light sourness makes it refreshing and quaffable.

The best black beer out there.

Exellent appearance. Aroma of bread, roasted malt, coffee. Light body, thin texture. The taste varies from sweet malt to bitter hops, especially at finish. Hoppy bitter aftertaste. Pleasant beer with thin palate.

On tap at the Kyoto mini-Oktoberfest in Shinpuhkan. 800 yen, it poured pitch black with 1 cm creamy beige head with fantastic staying power & lacing. Roasty grainy malty aroma with some savory qualities to it. The taste is similarly grainy, roasty well more toasted grains, some grape, savory notes & just hints of chocolate. Mostly this is all about toasted, a soft mild dark beer. OK.

Very dark color and a beige head that is not long lasting. Medium body, medium to low carbonation. Taste of the coffee and roasted malt. Aftertaste is astringent.

Bottle. Pours deep-brown-black with a medium tan head. Roasted malts aroma. Light sweetness with roasted malts, coffee, cocoa and herbal bitterness, semi-dry finish and medium-bodied. A bit rough but still a decent Schwarzbier.

16oz can into a pint glass. Pours an inky black with a medium tan rocky head which slowly dissipates, leaving fair lacing. Not much nose, just a slight malt smell. Taste follows the nose-watery malt without any detectable hop finish. Overall, just fair, nothing special.
