Since April 1991, the Köstritzer black beer brewery, a subsidiary of the Bitburger brewery, has emerged as of one of the most modern breweries in Thuringia. In September 1993, it was with great pride we (re-) introduced the "original Köstritzer black beer".

0.33l bottle. Very dark ruby body, light beige head. The aroma is quite clean, but not so intensive. It has notes of caramel, grains, dark fruits and cocoa. Taste of caramel, chocolate, toast and some dark fruits with a hint of spicy hops. Light medium bodied, quite easy to drink. I like it.

From Carrefour. In Ikea’s english pint glass. Watching Vikings 1x08 last night. Soft and smooth, without disgusting coffee taste. Maybe a bit too much smooth for my taste

Z zapasów przywiezionych przez Ojca z Niemiec. W aromacie nuty chleba razowego. Podobnie w smaku. Piwo jest lekkie i delikatne. Pije się dobrze ale nie ma w nim nic godnego zapamiętania. Jedna z wielu przygód na jeden wieczór.

Bottle 0,5l. Pitch black with a fluffy, firm off white head. Aroma of malts and chocolate. Taste is a bit watery, but there’s bitterness and chocolate hints too. The accents in the aftertaste are Co2, bitterness and some alcohol. Not bad; nothing special either...

A fine beer for any occasion, but a bit watery. Ruby black with a tan head. Bitter chocolate and a spiciness make it exciting at first but then it all just fades away. A good unique brew but ultimately a light one.

Svart, men noe gjennomsiktig. Skummet varer lenge. Lukter kaffe, knekkebrřd og knekk. Fřlger ogsĺ i smaken. Et overaskende lettdrikkelig řl.

330ml bottle. 1/7/16 code date. Appearance: Black and opaque, with a thick, creamy khaki cap and nice lacing. Aroma: Caramel and light roasted malt. No hop presence. Taste: Starts with bready malt sweetness, turns to some caramel and touch of dark fruit, and finishes with roasted malt and bitterness. Mouthfeel: Medium body with a light to moderate carbonation. Finish: Very dry finish, with a hint of lingering roast. Overall: Good example of the style. roast is present throughout, but never sharp or overpowering. Has some dark fruit characteristics typical of dark German lagers. Light enough on the palate to remain easy drinking.
