3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
11.2 oz bottle poured into the PROPER glass (ie. a Kostritzer pilsner glass).
A: Pours a dark ruby red color. The head is a two finger mocha shade that fades rather quickly, befitting a lager. A decent amount of lacing is left on the glass.
S: I notice some roasted nuts, chocolate, roasted barley, lager yeast, and coffee. It does a good job of
T: Drier than the aroma suggested. The initial flavor is mainly roasted barley and coffee. Some lager fruitiness enters the palate in the middle, and the finish is more roasted barley, imparting a very dry feel devoid of significant sweetness. Not complex or exciting, but pleasant.
M: Most pilsners wish they had this level of crisp dryness. Nothing really stays on the palate flavor-wise; I could see the argument for this being ’watery’ in terms of feel. Also thin, airy, and well carbonated.
O: While it is a bit meh flavor-wise, the drinkability factor is superb, as it should be in a good lager. I won’t rush out to the store to buy more, but this really does hit the spot for me.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Dark color, tiny white head. Faint aroma of coffee, chocolate and toffee. Taste is coffee and chocolate malt, quite faint. Short finish. This beer is not bad, but really need more punch.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at The Bier Garden. Suprisingly light "dark" beer. Some mocha, caramel notes but mainly a similar Irish stout/Guiness mouthfeel. Solid.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very dark black pour, little head, faint aroma. Some toffee, chocolate, vanilla , coffee hints, mild carbonation, smooth, little after taste. Very drinkable , better than the Guiness Black Lager I have tried.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Slight coffee and chocolate aroma. Pours a dark colour with little head but decent lacing. Taste is some coffee and chocolate maltyness with little hints of hops. No real aftertaste.
This is a drinkable dark lager with a good taste, just not much of it.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A medium dark dunkel lager, this beer excels in its rich caramelized malt taste. The hops are more subtle, letting the malt flavor dominate. It is a good beer, but not great.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep dark almost opaque mahogany. Tan quickly disappearing head. Smells slightly sweet with a hint of chocolate malt. Light in body, slight hop flavor that balances well with the dark malts. Very drinkable.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Near black with small head. Strong roasted malt. Slight smoke. Tastes very German, which is probably a way of saying it’s pretty bland.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml Bottle from Beers of Europe website (£2.09):
Subtle roasted malts and a smoky smell with some liquorice and a touch of sweetness helped on with some vanilla. A nice aroma but not the strongest and this was a disappointment.
Dark brown to black with a thumb sized, foamy head that holds very well and is a light, tan brown colour with some lacing on the sides.
Stronger than the nose and the roasted malts and hints of coffee a lot more noticeable straight off the bat with a fair helping of sweetness hitting you about the same time with some vanilla and caramel lingering in the background as well along with the odd hint of smokiness.
Sweet, a medium body & moderate carbonation. Smooth feel to this one for the most part and the flavours are all pretty well balanced before being rounded off with a clean, dry finish that is a moderately bitter one as well.
A nice tasting beer throughout and one that whilst I enjoyed could have used being a lot stronger.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours black with no head. Interesting combo taste of lager and stout with a caramel and molasses flavor. A mild flavor that stays in your mouth.
